with Sandra Bullock? I'm particularly interested to know if anyone who has personally been in an inpatient substance-abuse treatment program has any comments about the movie.
It is about a young woman who is mandated to a treatment program by the court for alcohol abuse, and it gives a realistic yet very funny insight into the real-life struggles of those who are in a recovery program.
In my work, I deal a lot with addictions to drugs and alcohol, and I found that this movie accurately depicts some of the common behaviours and struggles of an addict.
What does everyone think?

I watched both in the theater and on video. It's a great movie. However, most video stores classify it as a comedy and I don't think it is. It's more of a drama.

I would have to agree with you there. It is a funny movie, but the underlying theme and the intensity being portrayed about addiction and the recovery process make it more of a drama. I have also watched this movie many times.
