Not all Native Americans live on reservations. Some are living in other cities and states making it on their own and doing very well. But you have me thinking. If the Native American are born on the Reservation, and living by the rules of the reservation which are different than what the rest of us live by, are thier children born there American citizens? I really don't know how it works.

Well I'm Native, and it's hard for me to say American becuase I was always taight that we were the first ones here. The reservations do go by a differnt set of rules but the goverment can and will step in if they have too. I'm living in Pittsburgh, PA I grew up in South Dakota on the reservation there and I made it out. But alot of my family is still there. I feel for them when I see what they have to go through but yes not evey Native is poor and on assistance... Thanks for responding..

I don't think many people know that most of our laws were based on the Iroquois laws from my are here in Western New York. I'll never be able to understand where "savage" came from.

I totally agree with that finally someone who agrees with me. I feel bad cause i'm marked at the airports cause my brother speaks so highly agaisnt the goverment and were natives. so it takes them a little biut longer to let me go through...

I know suitsme personally, and I know she is not self-hating. In fact, she is a beautiful, loving person with a great appreciation for our native heritage.

My grandmother was Blackfoot, though only my European heritage showed up in my appearance. One of the things I love about suitsme is her appreciation of other cultures.
