Where are you on the last night of the year?

I like to spend New Year's Eve at home with a small house party of just a few relatives and the kids. We have a nice dinner and then have some appetizers and drinks during the evening until midnight when we go outside and yell Happy New Year!

I had planned a week's vaction to Goa, but that was before (1) My sons exams dates had been declared, well his engineering examns are on and we have canceld the trip. (2) I took up some more wrting assignments, and am vogged down with work, I take part in myLot discussions as breaks between work, since I am on my computer almost 14 hours a day. probably on 31st, we may just ave a quiet dinner outside and then return home and welcome the New Year. My son has an exam on the 2nd of January also.

i was called to a party on the last new years eve,but i issed it due to some problems

I think i'll be celebrating the last night of the year at home with my dear hubby. Just have dinner together and just wait for the new year to come.Nothing's planned for that day really.

I'll be right here, on my computer. It's fun wishing your friends Happy New Year at different times during the evening and night.:-)

I normally go to the local, village pub but this year, they've decided to make it more a youngster's townie pub and are charging £35 for a ticket for as much as you can drink, a buffet and a disco. Normal drinkers are allowed in at normal prices for drinks, but cannot participate in the disco or buffet, so have to be segregated.

That, to my mind, allienates me and all the other villagers who normally get together on New Year's Eve, from the pub. Normally, at 12, villagers spill out of the pub, into the street between the pub and the church steps, awaiting the bells striking twelve, when they all link hands and do Auld Langs Syne.. kiss, hug everybody and wish them Happy New Year, and let off party poppers, sometimes followed by fireworks provided by the publican. I might venture down the street at 12, as the pub is only a hundred yards from my door, and I would hate for the community spirit in my village to die.

The pub, I can give a miss, because it's gonna be full of drunken, loud youngsters who have tried to pour £35 or more worth of beer down their throats in order to recoup their ticket cash. That's not for me, I'm afraid, so it's a quiet New Year's Eve on my computer, with sober friends!:-)
