| |  It actually begins in mid-September and runs until early October. I think the biggest festivities are held in Bavaria. The drink? Well, that would be beer! The food consists of lots of sausage and varieties of it, and the food and drink are served in big tents.

| | Maybe they are more moderate in their eating the rest of the year, or maybe there are a lot of heavy people in Bavaria! Generally Europeans eat smaller meals and portions than Americans, so maybe pigging out at one time of year doesn't make them gain too much weight. | | | |
