Ball on top of pole  | |  Is it true that the ball on top of the pole is to hold two things: 1) a match and 2) a bullet?
I was told that the match is used by a soldier to burn the flag if it is about to be taken by the enemy and
the bullet is used by a soldier if he is about to be taken captive.
Any truth in this?
