After Saddam's execution.. the question remains, What about Osama? |
|
So much attention has been focused on Saddam and bringing him to justice for the crimes he's committed, that the focus on bringing Osama Bin Laden to justice has been just about forgotten. Media coverage has died down so much you rarely even hear a mention of his name. Do you think that our president and our government are doing all they can to bring justice for our fallen in the 9/11 tragedy? Or, did they never REALLY plan to persue Osama, now or ever for his crimes?

3. Lewah69 (1218) | 3 years ago | I just want to say that i´m against the death penalty there´s allways gonna be a bad spell on us if this old tradition will live on. That´s my point, it´s a shame that it hasn´t vanished yet´.
Bush in my eyes is also a terrorist, he´s no good for the world i can´t understand that he got president. We had lots of information about this war he´s fighting in our german tv and for me he and his leadership are evil aswell they are responsable for puting up these guys like Osama. We recived information in documentaions that the U.S. goverment knew about the twin tower threat and they just let it happen so they could go on with this war.
I hope you get it all right it´s hard for me to answer in english in german i could get it much better to the point, sorry about that.

MrNiceGuy (3003) | 3 years ago | Thats a lie. The US government knew the Osama wanted to attack the US. That is it. How is that a warning?
An evil? Terrorist? Hardly... Good to see German TV is still propaganda free, pffft.

redamazon (485) | 3 years ago | I have to agree that President Bush no good for the United States and does not have the American publics interests at heart. I sincerely do believe that the president as well as others had prior knowledge of the 9/11 attack and instead of acting on it to protect our citzens, they acted on making a profit for themselves.

redamazon (485) | 3 years ago | I understand your feelings on this, I am having my doubts that Osama and others involved will ever be brought to justice. If it does actually happen, it won't happen until after President Bush's term is up.

9. Echo123 (138) | 3 years ago | Not that I am implying that this is the case, but I often wondered if Osama and his network of cronies did not have a lot to do with pointing focus on the louder, brasher Hussein. I feel like there may have been a guided effort to allow Hussein play the part of world's most evil man for a while so Osama could retreat into the comfort of having been all but forgotten.

redamazon (485) | 3 years ago | Yes, I agree that attention was diverted from Osama to Saddam, but I think the largest part of the diversion was created mainly by the US government and press. Thanks for your input!

10. marmalaide (450) | 3 years ago | The whole focus on Iraq was basically to divert attention from the embarrassing fact that the US had no idea of where bin Laden actually was, and even with all their super-duper spy satellites and intelligence operatives and troops they weren't able to flush him out and bring him to justice.
They knew where Saddam was, though, and even though he had nothing to do with it, they didn't like him very much anyway and wanted him gone. So they thought they could concentrate on bringing him down and the American public would be dumb enough to believe that he was a co-conspirator in 9/11, thus sating their thirst for revenge and making America feel good about itself. If they went on about Saddam enough, then everyone would forget about their utter failure to track down Osama.
Well, this worked to some extent. Like you say, nobody ever mentions Osama these days. And most of the public probably do believe that just because Saddam also happened to be a Muslim who hated America, he and Osama were best buddies. (They were from completely different and opposing sects of Islam, but it's not like Fox News cares about such details.) Unfortunately, thousands of troops and civilians have died unnecessarily just so Bush wouldn't have to deal with the humiliation of not being able to catch the person who was actually responsible for the 9/11 atrocities. Way to go.

redamazon (485) | 3 years ago | I agree with many of your points, this whole situation has been grossly mishandled, and that is putting it mildly. There has been far too much suffering and death and has gone on for far too long. I stated earlier in this discussion to a post, I do believe that once Bush is out of office, that we have a chance of getting back on track and begin to heal, but justice won't come until Bush is no longer is in office. Thanks so very much for your lengthy reply!
