Bartolin1980 (67) | 3 years ago |  Man, it has to be the Sabbath hands down, they are legends- Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, the keyboard guy, Ozzie (ignoring that evil woman he's married to, his kids and that stupid show- next to them Metallica are wimps (perfection in metal- don't make me laugh) who haven't produced anything worthwhile since the late 80's even though they continue to churn out albums.
I'm not saying that I don't like Metallica, but you don't mess with the masters- the problem is that young people don't listen to the bands who inspired their favourite bands, so they are ignorant of Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Venom, Celtic Frost etc and they just think of them as embarrassing hair-metal dinosaurs.
By the by, Black Sabbath didn't create metal, rather doom and gothic- it was punk, NWBHM and bands like Motorhead that created metal. Sabbath were influenced more by blues than rock 'n' roll
