What are some products that you use to keep your face healthy and glowing. I used to use cocoa butter but sometimes it makes my face too greasy. Now, I'm using good ole' baby lotion. I need some help for real.

Shar11 (287) | 3 years ago | I do think there are some great products out there that help keep your skin looking and feeling good, but the two best things you can do for your skin are a) use a good sunscreen and b) drink lots of water!!!!
If you include atleast 5 or 6 glasses of water in your daily diet I guarentee you will notice a difference in your skin...

katprice (449) | 3 years ago | There's no link between drinking water and having good skin. It's never been proven. In fact, drinking too much water is bad for you.

2. Adrenochrome (736) | 3 years ago | Before I begin, I should really point out that I'm a man, and not a specialist in such matters, but felt the following may be of interest or help. I have a great aunt, who is 93, and has absolutely wonderful skin, it glows with a real rosy glow, is still very firm and makes her look very healthy, indeed. It appears that this is because she has never had hot water in her house, as both her and the property date back to before inside toilets, bathrooms and central heating. To have a bath, she boils kettles and pans of hot water, and pulls the bath out in front of the open fire. Her daily skin regimen is to wash her face with ordinary, unscented soap, and with COLD water. It may sound a little barbaric, or even over-simple, but apparently it works. The alternative, she once suggested to me, was to wash your hands and face in the water left in the pan after cooking vegetables, especially cabbage!

suedarr (1523) | 3 years ago | Wow! That is really interesting about your Aunt. I often think in our modern world if we put all this stuff on our skin are we actually doing worse? I think any natural product would be good, but really look carefully at the ingrediants. I noticed one lotion designed for the face that I was using contained alcohol, which is very drying. Cheers!
| |
|
|
Adrenochrome (736) | 3 years ago | I agree, almost all male moisturisers contain alcohol! And that's my excuse for looking older than I am - though my girlfriend generously describes these marks as laughter-lines and characterful (so, love really is blind). Seriously, though, I was amazed to find out that about 100 years ago, English women used dilute arsenic as a face wash, and arsenic is one of the most poisonous substances on the planet!

3. starr4all (2181) | 3 years ago | This is what I do for my face: Every time I shower I use St.Ives apricot scrub on my face. In the mornings I use oil of olay day cream. At night I use oil of olay night firming cream. I just recently started using the oil of olay. It doesn't make my face all oily.

|
Adrenochrome (736) | 3 years ago | Probably good advice, but shocking product placement! LOL
| |
|
|
katprice (449) | 3 years ago | A scrub is typically an exfoliator and should probably not be used daily. You'd be stripping essential natural oils from your skin if you did. Also, it's just called "Olay" these days. They took the "Oil of" out of their name because they didn't want women to think that they'd be putting Oil on their faces.
| |
|
|
Adrenochrome (736) | 3 years ago | When I was young, it was 'Oil of Ulay', and I'd only just got used to the name change, and they're at it again. Is it surprising, men like me get confused? And, why am I still talking about moisturisers? I think I'm going to watch sports, and drink beer, try to get back in touch with my masculine side.

5. SageMother (2093) | 3 years ago | You might try grapeseed oil. Another method is to use a toner made of tomato, cucmber and vodka or grain alcohol. You blend the ingredients in a blender, then dave them on your face and leav it for a few minutes. It will be watery so you'll want a towel to catch any drips. once you have left the toner on for about 5 minutes you rinse it off.

6. Smithfamily (1612) | 3 years ago | I guess i've been lucky to have healthy skin but what i hear is the best natural remedy is to eat healthy and exercise. Greasy foods cause break outs and oily faces (from what i hear). My sister went to the dermatologist and he said eating fruits and vegetables suprisingly helps alot.

9. babyjane (1179) | 3 years ago | Five easy steps to pamper and nourish the skin on your face that will keep it healthy and glowing
Most individuals often find time in their busy schedule to get hair cuts, groom themselves etc. But how often do you give the skin on your face the kind of attention it needs, in terms of keeping it not just healthy but glowing.
It is important to keep your facial skin clean and care for it on a regular basis. Here are some helpful cleansing tips which will ensure proper skin care for your face:
CLEANING IT Always clean your face with a gentle, creamy liquid cleanser. Avoid using soap — it dries the skin and leaves it looking very stretchy. Also avoid using your hands when you apply cleanser because the dirt and germs from your hands could get into the pores of your skin. Instead use cotton to dab the cleanser on your skin. Make sure you rinse with lukewarm water because hot water can aggravate the skin and inflame capillaries.
TONE Select a toner from a variety that are available in the market and pick one that suits your skin type (oily, dry or normal). Apply the toner over your face after you have rinsed thoroughly. This removes the last traces of your cleanser and restores the pH balance of the skin, so it won’t over-secrete or under-secrete oil.
EXFOLIATE The purpose of gently exfoliating the skin is to remove the build-up of dead skin cells that cause breakouts. Also, you want to smooth the skin’s surface so your treatment products can be absorbed more evenly. Don’t use an exfoliator that is too harsh. Scrubs that contain ground-nut shells or apricot pits may irritate the skin because the edges are uneven and can cause microscopic tears.
REVITALISE Facial masks are used to revitalise and tighten the skin. For those with oily skin, clay-based masks are best. Hydrating gel masks or cream masks should be used by those with dry or sensitive skin. If you have combination skin, apply a mud mask only over the T-zone (which is the centre of the forehead, nose and chin) and the centre of your cheeks.
MOISTURISE Regularly moisturising your skin is critical to maintaining young and healthy looking skin. Another very important reason to wear a daily moisturiser is for protection against the sun’s damaging rays. Moisturisers should be used every morning and every night for maximum results. During the day, make sure you use a moisturiser that contains an SPF of at least 15.
