I think you have to take responsibility for whoever is going to look after your child.
In the UK we have registered childminders and the richer parents have nannies. They all have to have police checks and alot are now required to take courses in childcare.
If you are employing a maid then their role is to be a maid not a childminder.
If there is information being given out that maids are dangerous, then I would rather be poor and survive on one wage than take the chance of any harm coming to my child.
Do you not have other facilities where your child can go?

When both the parents are working class heroes, and when nobody is at home, it is really a tough job to look after the kid. Even the play houses does not offer to look after the kids for full day. In such circumstances we need to appoint a trust worthy person to take care of the little one. The best way is to approach the Employment Buereus run by churches. They will have the complete history, including the native place details of the maid/servant. Such buereus are trust worthy.

Well whether you select a maid to sit with your child or send the child to a day care school you have to select the best. It has to be your choice alone and not depend on others. There is no second opinion on this since what may be good to me may not suit you and vice versa.

Of course maids have to be verified. Similarly even day care homes/ schools have also to be checked as to whether they can give the best treatment to the kids and whether in emergencies they can handle the kids in a professional way.

i believe that its no good to leave your child on maids. we should not really trust them that they can do everything for thr wellfare of our kids. they cant replace a mother. you can give more to your child than the maids. maids are only good for the household chores but not the kids. coz you should be the one who will develop their emotions. they can learn more from you than the maids. why dont you just stay at home, have some business or work that you can do it at home. in that, you can have salary & be with your kids.

If you can afford a maid, then why not try talking to a relative or friend who is willing to care for your child while you are away.

If you need to work then the option are limited. You could place your child in a day care facility or get someone to take care of the child in your or their home. It needs to be someone you trust. Family would be the first people to considder, but they are not always available. Agencies should be able to provide references, but in the end you will always take a risk. Just make sure to monitor your childs behaviour after taking in someone to take care for them. Are they happy? Do they show signs of abuse? Most nannies and au-pairs are doing their best to give a high level of care. It is very good that you are aware of the risks, but unfortunately there are always the bad examples.

As you said it's difficult to live on one salary only, so both parents must work. The only choise is to check the maid before, or to get a nanny with recommendations. Of couse if your parents can help you with the kids it's the best solution, but it's not always posible.

these are just suggestions -- the mother-in-law can be requested to attend to the child if both parents are not around; or maybe a sister, brother, niece who are not employed; we can also make use of child care centers (although they are a little bit expensive)..

don't at the chil, become the animal
