Atlas Shrugged Relative to today?  | |  Do you believe that Atlas Shrugged is relative to anything today? In United States, do you believe that capitalism is under attack. If Ayn Rand was a voter who, or what party, would she vote for?
My opinion: I believe that Ayn Rand is an exaggerated warning to the disadvantages to socialism (or communism). I believe that Atlas Shrugged could be relative to today in an extreme way. There is no more extreme right or left; they are all fence hoppers. I believe Ayn Rand would be a Republican with a Libertarian economic view.

I guess there is potential to implement her philosophy in everyday life and just live for your own happines, which is potrayed within the characters of the book.
Not too aware of the American political parties but you are right there are no extreme parties anywhere in the world except for where there are dictatorships and that is the only setting socialism does really work.

It is purely a fictional book, with a suggestion of a new style of government, Ayn Rand even suggests in her books the flaws of Objectivism. If people want a pure form of government, we turn government into a computer file and have a government run by a computer that is not clouded with any form of judgement other than its programming. | |
