DVD player problems......help! | | I bought a GPX portable DVD player recently, and have had problems with it since the first time I used it. I am probably going to return it, but was hoping to maybe get some advice as to what the problem is and how I can fix it before I do that. Here is the problem:
It will play CD's (music) fine, but everytime I put in a DVD, it makes loud "clicking" noises, and then shuts down within the first minute of playing. Then it will restart itself, make the "clicking" noises, and shut down again. It keeps going like this over and over. I have tried cleaning the lens, but it didn't work. I have also left it open, thinking that maybe it had some moisture inside, since I had it in my car for a couple of days. Nothing is working! Can anybody help me?

They were all different ones, and they all had problems. (one of them was stolen). I would return it, buy a new one.. and here are some tips 1.Never leave it in your car.. it can get really hot or really cold in your car, and the player isn't made to sustain those temps, and as we have found out, you are just tempting the drug addict down the street, to break in and steal it..*sigh* 2. Make sure you get a quality case for it, that supports it in the car, the cheap cases that come with some of them, just won't due, as they don't really support the base, and sometimes you'll have problems (like we did with one of ours) of the screen becoming disconnected from the base. 3. Don't leave it plugged into your cigarrete player all day unless no power is flowing through it when the vehicle is off. I hope this helped, always keep your reciept and try to remember to fill out the warranty info. The one we have now is lasting quite nicely, although we've really only had it for 2 months.. We try not to spend too much money on them, because they break so easily (i've heard the same about the most expensive ones as well...). The last one we got at BIG LOTS for 50.00 (it was on clearance, plus my hubby's store discount). Good luck!

Sarah1977 (369) | 3 years ago | Thank you so much for your advice! I still haven't decided what to do with the stupid thing. I should probably just return it, but my husband, who thinks he can fix anything, has been playing with it everyday, trying to make it work. It is some consolation to me that it's a common problem though.
