Justin Timberlake, a gangster? I think not

He's not suposse to be really a gansgter a little bit more of a junkie:P
I saw the preview(www.quicktime.com)and I really think he's a good comadian. I red some critic of the movie (who will be released jan 12) and they were not that good for the movie but they were saying that Justin is playing well is role.
I'm gonna see that movie for sure:P

yes I agree he doesn't look like the gangsta type or act like one.I saw previews of the movie and his character doesn't fit him

You never know. I wouldn't have believed it years ago if someone had told me that one of the stoner dudes from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Keanu Reeves, would be an action movie star (Speed, The Matrix, etc.)

Or that Bruce Willis, the smart-alecky detective from the TV show Moonlighting, would become an action star in the Die Hard series and other movies.

I didn't get the vibe that he was trying to be a gangster from the previews. The movie actually doesn't even seem that interesting. But I give him credit for doing a movie.:)

Nah, that would be playing against type--but you know, some actors can do that very effectively. He's new to acting, but I'd give him a chance. Think of Charlize Theron in "Monster". Think of Denzel Washington in "Training Day"! Man, at the end of the movie, they just could not kill that guy ENOUGH for me! Lol. Never did I think I could despise Denzel Washington, but he was so fantastic in that movie at playing the Bad Cop.

Maybe think of this an actor

It will be reporters,movie critics etc who will decide when the movie is screened then we will know Robin Williams a well known comic has excelled in drama performance and won awards so its plausible Good Luck

I don't think Justin Timberlake is all gangster like as the movie would like us to think. He's too preppie for that.

they aren't really "gangsters" in the film...just some young guys who hang around a drug dealer and drugs and mess up

I agree, he is sure not a gangster, however I thought the movie was good. Don't forget it was a true life story.
