Fairies stop developers' bulldozers in their tracks!

I think thats wonderful!!! SO pleased to see the fairies won!!!
No seriously, I think its great that some of the 'nicer' older customs and beliefs of communities are allowed to still remain and be heard. The world is becoming too much like one big boring housing estate, and all signs of history are rapidly being wiped out. If you think about it, most tourists to foregin countries want to look at, amongst other things, sites of historic and cultural signinficance, so why would people want to build over them all? It takes away a societies 'spirit' I think!

As for fairies, I 'want to believe'. In fact I think I do believe!

I think believing in magick and faeries are the key to their exsistance!
If we do not believe, the magick will die. And if they believe that there are faeries under that rock, then there probably are. Because believe and faith are a very strong emotion!
I hope the townspeople win. I would hate to see their beliefs flicked away like a little bug that is a nuisance!
Do I believe in faeries? Sure! Why not? I love faeries! I collect faeries!
But what I want and believe most is the House Brownies. Which, one can not confuse with a faerie. They are little magickal people that seek employment by doing household chores. And their form of payment is a saucer of milk. I keep telling myself that I believe because I hope to one day hear a little knock on my door that will turn out to be a House Brownie coming and looking for employment.:)

That was a great article to read. It was nice to see that tradition won out against the big company. I believe in fairies and that they are a part of this world even if we can't prove it. I think the fact that the people of the village didn't want the rock to be moved just in case should mean something to the builders even if they don't believe in such things. You never know when tradition might have some truth to it after all.

The article was interesting. Back in the early 20th century some girls actually took photographs of fairies in their back yard. Sir Arthur Connan Doyle the famous author of Sherlock Holmes inspected them and concluded that they were authentic. How ever towards the 1970s with the advancement of scientific techniques the photographs were proved wrong. Then the girls who were old ladies now admitted to the hoax and revealed how they created the photograph.

That was a great read.As far as believing I believe in everything until it is proven Not to be real.Even if its not true at least the townspeople are preserving a part of their history.

How wonderful...Fairies 1, Developers 0! How great that local beliefs must be taken into account in that beautiful country..wish it was the same here! I personally hate to see so many natural areas be so over-developed so that business owners can make money..hopefully the Fairies will reward the townspeople will health and prosperity.. what a nice thing for a town to be known for!
