How Good Are You With Computers?  

I can fix things like if my computer has a virus or something. The more complicated things I leave to my husband. He generally fixes it for me. Though touch wood that doesn't happen very often that he needs to.

I'm a self admitted computer geek. There's little I don't know in terms of computers, and the little I am unsure of my husband is familiar with.

Seems strange to me that 5 years ago I was a computer illiterate, just another newbie without a clue. Now, whether it's programming, manipulating, software, designing, graphics, troubleshooting ... I'm pretty much up to date with any problem the computer itself can have. The only area that's still up for grabs for me is hardware. I know a little, but not enough to rely on myself. That's where hubby comes in ;)

Yes, i do ask for online help coz i am not an advanced user. Sometimes i ask in yahoo and sometimes in others sites too like geekstogo.com. There are lots of computer geeks online that can really help me relieve my PC virus problems.

I am very fortunate because my husband is a computer engineer, my eldest son has his own computer business and my youngest son works in IT. Whenever I have problems with my computer, which is very rare, as one or other of them is always upgrading it, I just shout for help. If it should breakdown during the day, I will phone one of them and ask if there is anything I can do myself...but the answer is always 'leave it until I get home'. I suppose they don't want me to make a bad job worse, as I know absolutely nothing about computers.

no i do not know how to fix any technical problem from my computer i always get technician to come and fix it

I can switch it on... and off lol

But other than that I leave my other half to sort it all out.

He works at the OGC with computers all day, 5 days a week plus he goes around the country showing people how to use different systems.

I usually handle the small stuff but when major porblems come up especially with hardware I start calling frineds more experienced to see who I can bribe and who can fix it first! I hate being without a computer! Yep, a little bit acicted here.

I'm no expert .. but as I have no one else to help me I have had to try and learn how to fix my computer if and when it's gone wrong .. generally I google my problem .. and after finding several sites that suggest the same way to fix the problem I make a 'system restore' point and have a bash at fixing things ..

Sadly my computer has just about come to the end of it's life now .. nearly 6 years old and no way to update the system software any more as it's all so out of date .. and Microsoft no longer support my windows version

Most of the time I could fix it by myself. I can install the operating system. I could even setup my own computer hardware. Sometimes I consult the manual or research in the Internet. If everything fails that's the time I go to a computer shop for them to test all the parts of my computer

I have yet to have any problems which I could not fix (touch wood), I am constantly fixing machines for other people with errors from simple virus infestations to hardware failure. Yes I am considered a computer geek by my peers but the way I see it, it saves me money and allows to make the occasional bit too lol.
