Chopsticks or Fork/Spoon? |
|
Do you use chopsticks? If you do, do you prefer to use chopsticks or fork and spoon? Why?I've a discussion with a friend on this, I prefer to use chopsticks as I think it's easier to pick up food, except for those rounded and soft items, such as tofu` fish balls. Especially when I'm eating noodles, I think using chopsticks is easier. Well, and also I can just use one hand to eat, instead of using both hands for spoon and fork. Using chopsticks, I can pick up exactly what I want to pick up. Although I use fork/spoon as well, I use chopsticks more often. My friend thinks using fork and spoon is easier. How about you? Which is your preference?

kaka135 (2734) | 3 years ago | Thanks for your response. Yeah, sometimes I feel lazy to use both spoon and fork, because I need to use both hands to hold them.:p But using chopsticks can be tiring too, coz you need to hold them properly.

kaka135 (2734) | 3 years ago | I guess it's all because of practice. Frankly speaking, I'm not applyin the proper way to hold chopsticks, it's just that I have been using this method since I was young, and I manage to eat rice/noodles using chopsticks, that's it.

4. Darkwing (7519) | 3 years ago | I use a spoon and fork, for the simple reason that when it comes to chopsticks, I'm cack-handed and more would end up in my lap than in my mouth.
It's nice, when eating at an oriental restaurant, to be able to use their traditional eating utensils, but try as I might, I always lose my grip on the food when using chopsticks! lol.
If I want to finish my meal within two hours, and satisfy my hunger pangs, I HAVE to use a spoon and fork. My local Chinese Restaurant knows me now, and invariably take away the chopsticks and replace them with cutlery when I walk in.:-)

5. StarBright (1111) | 3 years ago | Let the food and the ocassion dictate the utensils. Flexibility and versatility are the spice of life. Chopsticks, forks, spoons, even fingers sometimes. Mix it up. Why limit yourself?

Lil_miz_ice_x (519) | 3 years ago | Both at the same time?! Doesn't that just make things harder? I mean, do you use the fork to cut things or something? Because I could sort of see that working, but otherwise, I'd have my doubts...

7. timou87 (1523) | 3 years ago | Living in Singapore and being brought up in a Chinese family I usually eat my food using chopsticks. I find it much more convenient and oh so easy to wash up! The only exception is of course when I am eating steak or the like, or drinking soup or more liquid forms of food.

9. Lil_miz_ice_x (519) | 3 years ago | My mother, being Greek, doesn't let me use chopsticks, even though I'd perfer to. However, one of my closest friends is Chinese, and whenever her father sees me eating with eating with chopsticks in her house, he sort of stares at me, and asks if I'd rather have a knife and fork -- at which point she sort of glares at him and says just because I'm not Asian, doesn't mean I can't use them!
