digital cameras  | |  Will digital cameras take over from film? Do you take digital pictures? Do you think cameras that use film roll are better? Do they have better picture quality? I have a digital camera and a camcorder and I think they are great. I think that you have to pay a lot for a really good camera, but it's worth it in the end.

| | | | | | | | 1.  jayperiod (688) | 3 years ago |  There is no doubt digital will overtake film. Kodak and Fuji have already announced that they will cease manufacturing film in the next few years. That means there is no development on new films.
Digital cameras have gotten better at exceptional rates. Printers have always been the drawback, but now those printers are catching up. If you go into most one hour photo places, they use digital printers, even for film prints.
I use a 6 megapixel camera and print my pictures at 300dpi. Generally speaking, the human eye can effectively see 240dpi, so the quality of pictures can be better than the eye can detect. With programs like Photoshop, there is no reason above average photographers can't produce eye-popping, exceptional photos.
