You can even apply for a google adsense account that you help you earn money. I have four blogger.com or blogspot.com sites, one is about telescope, the other three is health-related. You can go to godaddy.com to register your domain name and they will also host your site. another is yahoo. The thing is these are companies that you know will be around.

rather than building yourself a website you can make yourself a blog which is much easier and free too.you can use blogger.com for it.its really easy to sign up and you get your page.then you can put up links.articles,pictures,whatever you want.but one thing there is not much designing involved in a blog and more or less you will have to use the layouts they give you.but if you are a novice in website manking field,you should start by making a blog and then you will have some knowledge of how things work and then you can proceed to make your own dotcom website.
