I have been many types of lab technician so you can imagine I have seen some yucky stuff for sure. One thing that still gets me is back in the day when we pipetted (like a glass straw) samples we did it all with our mouth (now bulbs are used) and in this case I was working in a dairy lab so anyway if you sucked too hard on the pipette whatever you are sampling gets in your mouth (not all things in a dairy plant are tasty)...Need I say more?

I've worked in a hospital lab, and had to use pipettes for about 20 years, used to suck up something called Lieberman-Burchard reagent, which contained concentrated acetic acid and acetic anhydride, fumes got into the mouth, not allowed to use this these days, also sucked up different types of biological fluids.

You know exactly what I mean! I also was in a hospital lab and dairy lab. Things are a little better these days thats for sure. I also just remembered at one point I worked in a grocery store in the seafood department I love fish but the smell got me sick daily.

sounds...tasty (NOT!). I think my worst job was working at a restaurant as a waitress--people can be so sloppy! I used to bus tables and slip in the dishwashing area. My clothes and hair stank after every shift (I had to be the cleanest teenager around!) and the things that the customers did to the salad bar...ewww!!!

You gotta get out of that dairy lab. Well I used to work in a medical lab for a few years. There we processed samples of what you took at the doctors office. I would see the stool, piss, kidney stones, blood everything. Well talk to you later. One Love SisterLove
