The Death Penalty |
|
Hi,
With sudam's hanging it brought further to light the death penalty. Many people naturally object saying it's against god, humanity, it's barbaric while others argue that what sadam did warrented his execution. My own feeling is mixed because there are so many bad people out there, that steal, that rape, that effect a person's ability to fuction or lead a 'normal' life. So what I want to know is, when is the death penalty acceptable, if at all, to you? Are we in our rights to play God? Your thoughts please

I have mixed feelings, especially because there are cases where a person was executed and later due to new DNA discoveries, DNA testing was done, and the person was found innocent, but they are already dead. If they are inprisoned they can just be let out. However, there are people who kill many people, go to jail, and have escaped. Therefore, I only believe the death penatly should be granted is if the person cannot be contained.

Jakker27 (3910) | 3 years ago | For sadam, i'm inclined to think from the evidence that while yes the trial was a joke, he is guilty of killing a frightening amount of innocent people and by all account ran iraq with fear and brutality so the death penalty was probably merited but again the trial gave people all the more reason to feel angry. The obvious question is, where could you contain someone and be absolutely certain that they couldn't escape?

hionmentho (226) | 3 years ago | good post Jaker + rating for you! Anyways, Their isa very thin line between contantment and not containing somebody. Obviously, if someone escapes a maximum security prison they cannot be contained, but someone who's been in jail 3-4 times, and keeps commiting crimes doesn't learn to do something for society. If they then killed somebody, I believe the death penalty is acceptable but not necessary.

6. angelastreit (290) | 3 years ago | I know someone who's father was executed for something that he didn't do because someone framed him and his family still have a hard time talking about this issue. I don't think people should be planning someones death inless the know 200% that the person did it, and if so they need to do it ASAP so they don't have the chance to get out and do it again.

7. shomomo (708) | 3 years ago | As someone who doesn't believe in God I'm against the death penalty. Considering the fact that I don't believe in life after death I think that killing someone is the worst thing that someone could do, and to let it commence just like that is just horrifying.

There are a lot of "monsters" out there, such as serial killers, rapists, terrorists, people who have brought horror and pain to lots to people. I know some people think it's better to imprison them for life rather than put them to death, but there are psychopaths out there who are not able to be rehabilitated. It's scary to think that there's a possibility they might escape from prison, plus it's not fair that our tax money is going to feed and shelter them, when it could be used for something else

9. maikeeho (194) | 3 years ago | Death penalty is not fair. It would be nice too see person rot in jail. Let him suffer the mistakes he/she made. But for saddams execution i would say its perfect if they hang Bush also coz war on iraq qhich was started by americans cause a lot of deaths to iraqui civilians

hionmentho (226) | 3 years ago | Why is it America's fault, Iraqi's are killing each other? It's not the Americans, it's the religious sects killing each other because they don't agree on the others faith.

nw1911guy (800) | 3 years ago | far more people have been killed in car bombs and such than anything the American soldiers have done. And, as an American who isn't overly thrilled with Bush, I sometimes wonder if he would have to ask which was down before they successfully hung him.

ravinamita (111) | 3 years ago | It is really disgusting that most of the world leaders are dancing to the tune of a particular leader. It was not;the execution of Saddam which prompted the invasion of the country. The hype was totally false. The main motive behind all this hype was killing or hanging of Saddam. There are so many leaders responsible for killing of millions of people in different countries. What about bringing them to book. Moreover, telecasting of the event was most barbaric. But it apperars that this was also organized from behind the curtain.
