why do dogs not like the mail man?

It just mail man hase pagage that interest dog and dog want to see what is in those pagage or they just hate them .:D

Probably because they think the mailman's stealing from their owners' mailbox?

My dog does not mind the mailman. He LOVES people no matter who it is. He doesnt bark or even growl at the mailman. Now if the mailman were to knock on my door he might bark but thats it.

Maybe if he took the sunglasses off he could see the mail man better.
I think they don't like them because they don't stop in and chat. I had one dog that used to hate the UPS guy who I loved not just because he was cute but because he always brought a package.
I had another dog that just didn't like men period. Since I was single and there were not many men around, every time she saw one she thought they were going to hurt me.
Lol, "attacks the mail" that's a new one to me. Maybe he thinks the mail man planted a bomb.

I think dog think that the mailman is getting rude of them. They think that a mailman is putting some bad things in a mailbox. Or maybe mailman rob some things in a mailbox.

I is a way for dogs to defends for their life. I walked by this house everyday to school. There is a dog. He keeps on barking at me for no reason. I like him but he does not like me. I tried to avoid him as much as i could.

The reason I find they do this is because.. It is someone they do not know.. That is trespassing on there territory.. My dog reacts that way to any stranger she does not know.. Also dogs are very protective of there masters.. In addition, I think that dogs tend to sense the fear when a stranger comes up to the door to deliver one's mail.. And in general I have noticed that most postal carriers seem to fear dogs.. Especially when they are barking & looking directly at them.. And dogs sense that fear automatically..

I know that we NEVER get the same mail man in our area.. It's always someone new.. So I think because each & every time someone is delivering our mail she's not quite sure of them because she's never seen them before.. Plus I find the mail men that deliver our mail are very loud.. They open the mail box loudly & tend to make to much noise & sometimes.. Our dog will be sleeping & that will startle her so right away she gets defensive..

I think that's how most dogs are though.. This is how they react when they don't know someone.. I'm glad in a way she acts like this because.. If someone was trying to pick her up & take her or steal her from us.. I know she wouldn't allow them to do that so easily.. She'd fight her way out of there arms..

I mean if we had the same mail man come to our door each day.. I'd try to introduce the two.. But since it's always someone new that would just be to confusing for our dog I feel.. So I don't even bother! . .

But in conclusion I think if a dog feels someone is invading there territory they will get defensive.. And start to bark.. Just to let the person know that they are there if someone tries to pull anything.. haha.. Sometimes it's a good thing because they let you know when someone is at your door.. Sometimes when they get to defensive it can get out of hand.. I think a dogs master needs to get some control over this behavior sometimes though at the same time! . .

My dog, a mixture of poodle and shih tzu, practically barks and growls at EVERY stranger. Which reminds me...my dog's very playful and he ends up biting my hand (doesn't hurt me that much, though)...does anybody know how I can train him not to do that again?

Most dogs are like that with strangers, sometimes because our dog might think they might harm us that's why they bark, or maybe they think those mail men are taking the attention they are suppose to be getting from us, maybe they get jealous, every time a mailman comes we go running to meet them. Dogs might just be as excited as we are when the mailman comes, who knows.
