| | I am not an expert in criminal law but I would just like to express my personal observation if you would allow. If an offender is sentenced to a particular number of years in prison, usually the offender doesn't spend all the years in prison but if he shows good behavior, he will be on parole which means that he has a reduced number of years in prison. That is true in my country most of the time. If the offender has a bad behavior while in prison, he will get his sentence to the maximum number of years.
