You never gave the reason why the woman who obviously must have been in love with this man who he as you say dumped him? Their can be thousand reasons for a break up and that dosent mean that feeling for her vanished all togather. The same set of people can meet in future in different circumtances and realize that feeling for each other is as strong as it was in past, so the most natrual thing would have been to give a one more try and marry each other.
