wesderby (155) | 3 years ago | Boy...That's an extremely rude comment. I've known plenty of single fathers, many of whom did have to work and pay for childcare, who are perfectly good fathers...At the same time, I've known some downright awful single mothers (and plenty of good ones, too). I don't know if your English skills are lacking, or if that's how you truly feel, but to say that a single father is bad and needs relatives who can take care of his children is one of the most ridiculous and ignorant things I've ever heard. I'm sure this guy does a great job with his kids; at least he's out working to support them, and not sitting home collecting welfare...Good job, my friend.

5. wesderby (155) | 3 years ago | My wife and I pay $183 per week for childcare...I've never broken it down per hour; because of our commute, there are days my daughter is there for ten and a half or eleven hours, so I'd say about 55 hours a week. It's a professional daycare in Everett, Washington...We looked into getting her into something closer to where we work in Seattle, but the cost would be about double, and it wouldn't be worth it for my wife to bother working if we paid those prices. She's made lots of friends in the daycare, and though we were both somewhat against putting her in daycare at first, we feel it's one of the best things we could've done for her development of social skills.
Originally, we had an in-home person who was going to take care of our daughter while we worked, but we had to kick her out because she couldn't understand why we didn't want her meth-addicted boyfriend around our daughter, so we went with the daycare, and are happy we did.

wesderby (155) | 3 years ago | Yeah...I think that's about what my parents paid when we were kids. Being the oldest, once I was eleven and legally allowed to be home alone before/after school, they took the younger ones out of daycare, and I'd deal with my brothers before and after school and during the day during school vacations. Actually, I truly believe that's why I've elcted to only have one child; having been the oldest of five and having to be somewhat responsible for the others, I don't want to put my daughter through that if I can avoid it. :)

9. Lydia1901 (15711) | 3 years ago | That sounds alot just for one child. Thankfully, I'm taking care of my daughter for now so that she doesn't have to go to daycare so early in her life. But, when I go back to school in Fall, I'll probably have to enroll her in one. I hope it won't be too much.

10. marief2rnurse (2514) | 3 years ago | You are getting charged pretty cheap. It cost my mom $25 per day for my son to have a babysitter in Nevada. When I didn't have a maid here in the Philippines, I paid $5 a day for my 2 kids, a maid here only gets $50 a month, but then minimum wage is only about $200 a month here.
