A New York man, Don Karlos, blinded in his right eye 64 years ago, regained his vision after being headbutted by a racehorse named "My Buddy Chimo"

Karlos, a veteran of the Second World War, lost the vision in his right eye after shrapnel hit him during combat. Doctors tried in vain to cure his vision, but could not.

64 years later, Karlos got headbutted by said racehorse when he was putting a collar around the horse's chest.

Hours after the horse smacked Karlos in exactly the same spot as the shrapnel had gashed his forehead in the year of 1942, the man realised that his vision was returning.

Doctors had been telling him for years that there was nothing to be done about his eyesight. But now, although his vision is not 20/20 (not perfect) he has been able to see up to fifteen feet with his damaged eye! ^_^

It is possible that the blow could have knocked a dislocated lens back into place, one doctor said.

What do you think of this story? Is it a miracle? Just sheer good luck? Have you ever heard of anything like this before? Any thoughts are welcome! ^_^

Over the years, I've heard of people getting accidently hit in the same location on their bodies where they'd suffered an earlier injury and suddenly having a cure or improvement of whatever ailment the initial injury had caused.

It would seem to make sense that sometimes, just like when one hits a radio or TV for better reception, that hitting a certain part of the body affected in someway improves or corrects it by either jostling about nerve endings, muscles or foreign particles that might be imbedded in the body. Head injuries seem to be the major type of this kind of story, that I've heard.

I don't think it's a miracle, just the right amount of pressure applied at the right time in the right spot. Whether miracle or just luck, I'm sure the guy doesn't really care as long as he can continue to have some sight in his eye. :)

It makes one wonder if we or doctors should try hitting a person with the same impact and local to try to fix what can not be helped medically.
ha ha "Come here honey"...as the wife walks with a cast iron fry pan behind her back..."I just want to help you get your memory back since you can't ever remember to take the trash out since your head was hit in football." hehehehe
Next thing you know, there are many people being arrested saying, "I swear! I was only trying to help!!"

I am sure for the man, after 64 years, finds it to be a miracle!
Wow! I think it is great that he is now seeing!
It really is a great story! And people say that they do not belive some of these stories! I think this would prove to people that the least expected can really happen! I can't help but wonder about what the doctor said though...about the lens possibly being dislodged. If they are able to replace a lens in a person's eye, why wouldn't they have been able to dislodge a lens?
Either way...I am glad to read that this man is gaining back his sight. Too bad he had to wait 64 years. But we all have things we have to go through in life to make us who we are. :)

I guess hores are good for more than riding. I dont think I will stand in line to let a horse headbutt me though. Could have different results.

Wow! I think that it is a great story, and it might be a 'miracle'. I would have never thought that getting hit by a horse could cure blindness! I wonder if I get smack somewhere in the head by a horse it would cure my vision. I hate wearing glasses, but I love contacts. But, back to the discussion! I think that that old man loved that he go his sight back, but why at 64. He couldn't have gotten hit by a horse in his yearlier years! But, everything happens for a reason, right? Wow, what a great story. Thanks for the discussion. :D

I don't know what to think of that one but it is interesting. I have an incurable eye disease that makes it difficult for me to see and I guess stories like this give a little hope to some people. My condition is on its way to a cure but who knows how far away. I am going to pass this to someone else.

I found that story fasenating. I've read novels where similar things have happened, but never in real life before. And not to me. But, given the choice, I'd take getting knocked out any day if it meant I would be able to see.

There are rare cases where blows to the head have cured brain and eye disorders. Unsure of the technicalities but I would say it was luck and a miracle! But wouldnt advise going round headbutting things a general cure to illness!
