Has anyone ever offered to buy you a drink? |

During my bar hoppin days I would was a regular at one of the local bars. The bartender knew me by name and knew what my favorite drink was, Amaretto on the rocks. Usually, after that bar closed we would travel to the next state to finish up the night with dancing and partying until the wee hours of the morning.
There were a few bars that I never went to. A friend of mine went to one of the bars with her boyfriend. This particular bar had a reputation as the local meat market. After much prodding, I went to the bar with my friend. I felt out of place.
We ordered a drink and listened to the country music (not my kind of bar). She got up to dance with one of the patrons and I sat there with my empty glass and waited for her return. An older man came up and with a smile asked if he could get me a drink. I told him no thanks. He left. My friend returned and I told her not to leave me there alone again. She asked why. I told her that that older man asked me if I wanted a drink. She said and why wouldn't he....he is the bartender.

1. chileman (881) | 3 years ago | When I go to the pub with my mates we shout each other a round, so it's the same as buying a drink for everyone but then you get drinks bought for you as the shout goes around the table!

2. clownfish (1908) | 3 years ago | Hi! Cute story! I've had some drinks sent to me in my day. LOL The only one I was afraid to drink was a kamikazee. It tasted just like Koolaid and I was afraid I'd end up dancing on the tables, so I gave that drink away! :-)

I have been bought drinks before. And I've usually told them when they've offered that it's not a ticket to the bedroom! If they still wanna buy me a drink, it usually ended up as a nice evening of conversation:)

4. kgwat70 (10106) | 3 years ago | This has happened to me before as I went to a bar with a couple former students at my job. While we were there, a lady won a good amount of money in the slot machine and she offered to buy me a drink as well as everyone that was at the bar at the time. I had a free drink. That was so nice of her but I felt she should save that money that she won. That was funny that the bartender offered you a drink and you said no but for another reason. :-)

6. brokentia (7815) | 3 years ago | That was funny!!! I have not been to many night clubs or bars. I was married at a young age, so I didn't get to go through that phase of my life. But my sister once talked me into going out with her and my sister-n-law. We went to some night club and I felt very uncomfortable! While walking through, I would get tapped on my shoulder by some person and I would turn around because I kept thinking that someone there knew me. But once I saw the person and did not know him, I would turn back around and continue to follow my sister to the next level. When I got to the next level with my sister and we sat down, I told my sister that a lot of people think I look like someone else. She, of course, asked me why and when I explained, her and my sister-n-law laughed saying that I got tapped. Of course, I had no clue what this meant and they preceeded to explain that when someone taps your shoulder, that means they are interested and want to talk to you. And here, I was just turning around and walking away! ha ha Oops! Sorry to anyone out there that "tapped" me. I didn't know! LOL

10. dhouston (338) | 3 years ago | LOL! My friends and I often offer and buy one another drinks. A stranger has not asked me in years, but then, I was married 29 years and have been widowed almost 2, so I haven't been doing the meat market thing, nor do I plan to in the future.
