Birthweight of your baby |
|
My baby weighed 7.8 pounds at birth. I believe that's in the big category. Some of my friends had baby's that were in the small sized category, weighing as small as 5 pounds. I guess my baby is big because I also gained a lot of weight when I was carrying him in my womb. Would you believe I gained 40 pounds during my pregnancy? Yes, it's really a lot of weight. But I'm glad I gained that much weight because it paid off in the end-- my baby is a healthy one. Ü

1. Violette13 (650) | 3 years ago | My son was 9lb 6oz when he was born and was 22 1/2 inches long. The weird thing is, is that i hardly looked pregnant. He stayed in a really up and down position the whole time, plus i'm a bit taller 5'9" so that may have been part of it. I didn't really look pregnant until the last couple months lol
From my first contraction to the time i had him was only 11 1/2 hours, the pushing part was only 15 minutes tops. I hope my next one goes as easy lol... it'll probaly be really hard XP

| 4. jenmparrott (29) | 3 years ago | My first was a little boy at 35 weeks and he was 6 pounds 11 ounces. He was small and still is small. My second was preemie (27 weeks) and was 2 pounds. He is going to be a year in 1 week and is still tiny only 10 pounds! I think it depends greatly on genetics. My husband and I are small and tall so I think that is where they get it from.

| 6. higglytownhero (1) | 3 years ago | Hi ... first time poster here. My first son was 8 lb 11 oz and my second was 8 lb 3 oz. At the time I had my first son I thought 8 lbs and up for a baby was huge! I've noticed lately that 9 and 10 pounders aren't all that uncommon! I too gained a lot of weight with my first one ... close to 45 lbs. With my second I "only" gained 30, and still had a pretty good sized baby, so I'm not so sure the amount of weight you gain will determine the size of the newborn.

| 9. slbarnes26 (9) | 3 years ago | 7 1/2 lbs is the average weight of a newborn. My son was 7 lbs 13 oz and my daughter was 5 lbs 6 ozs. I gained 38 lbs with my son and 35 with my daughter. They are both very healthy. My son is very tall for his age and my daughter is still small (she's only 2 months though). I've always been petite though so I think that's where my daughter gets it. I don't think 40 lbs is too much to gain. And the only thing that matters is a healthy baby!:)
