homeschooling your kids |
| |
| Hi, everyone. What do you all think of homeschooling. I know everyone has strong opinions on this. I homeschool both my boys, and have from day one. I know everyones main objestion is that they are not being socialized, but I can tell you that they have many friends from varoius groups we belong to, martial arts classes and church. They are very well rounded and well behaved kids. I believe that a lot of misbehavior and bad attitudes result from the public school invironment. And there are so many bad influences there, drugs, sex, etc.... And its also becoming very dangerous, you never know whats gonna be on the news next as far as things happening in schools. Anyone else out there homeschooling? I would love to hear from you and also anyone elses' opinion. | | | | | |

| | Thank you for that nice response! I am fortunate that my husband makes enough that I can stay home with them. I really love to get a positve response, believe me alot of people are against it, but I am convinced. Thanks again. | | | |

| | No, you see they are a part of many groups, boys scouts, martial arts classes, church groups, they know how to socialize as well as any other kid and have many friends and are not shy at all. | | | |

| | Hello! My wife and I share your views on homeschooling, and when are two children are old enough, they will also be homeschooled. My wife actually just did a research paper on this, and surprisingly, homeschooled children socialize better and can actually carry on a conversation with elders, unlike many public or private schooled children. Homeschooled children also have shown to score on the in the 80th percentile on standarized testing, compared to the average of 50th percentile for public and private schools. Regular schools scare me and I do not want to send my children to one. I also do not really want them to experience other children, as children can do horrible damage to children from bullying and other things. I can't wait to homeschool my children! | | | | | | |

| | OH thank you , thank you! You would be surprised how many neg. comments I get about this and it is so great to hear positive ones. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do when you start. You will be surprised how much more well behaved they will be than most children, and much smarter also. My kids are 2nd grade and 5th grade. The youngest is doing 5th and 6th (public school) level stuff, and my oldest is doing stuff that they are just starting in public schools in junior high. May I recommend that you check out ABEKA curriculum when you get ready? I looked at alot and I think its great. Just a suggestion. Thanks again. | | | |

| | I fully believe in homeschooling. I put my son in public school for the first 3 years and in the third grade he was joining a gang thinking it was a club. I started homeschooling. It was GREAT! The YMCA even held a homeschool PE class twice a week for the kids to interact. My son learned more from being homeschooled than he would have ever learned in public school. We moved to Illinois in the 5th grade and once again I tried public school, it was even worse. So I homeschooled again until the 7th grade at which time he wanted to go live with his Father. And of course he had to go to school. He hated it for 2 long years. I brought him back home and homeschooled him again for the 8th grade. He really wanted to go to a regular school in the 9th grade, I put him in a Christian private prepartory school where he excelled for the last 3 years. I would homeschool all the way through to high school if I had it to do over again. | | | | | | |

| | Thank you so much! I could not agree more. I think more people should try it! Especially stay at home moms. So many have said to me "i couldn't do it". I think that is just an excuse anyone who trys could do it. | | | |
