SEATBELT LAWS for children |
| |
| I was just wanting to know your thoughts on seatbelt laws,in my state recently they changed it and a child has to be in a booster until they are either 8 years old,or they have to be over 57" tall or over 80lbs to get off of a booster seat .I think this is kind of ridiculous if your kid is less then 57" tall he/she has to be in a booster. I dont agree with this state law at all. Here is a great site that that you can look at that has all the seatbelt laws for the 50 states....................... http://www.elitecarseats.... Also if you are from a different country what are your seatbelt laws if any. | | jeep | | | | |

| | I think kids being in car seats and boosters are a great law. My reasoning is that many parents do not look out for the best interest of their children. Lets face it, some parents..just dont care. Someone has to look out for the children. We were at a stop light the other day and there 3 kids just leaning out the window, jumping from front seat to back and it was so dangerous. By law they had to be in a car seat in our state but they were not. I just wanted to go up and put them in a car seat and tell that parent to start protecting those inocent little ones. It was so sad. | | | | | | |

| | I think the new law is just a way for the government to get more money from us . I had went out and bought a regular booster for my daughter in December only to find out after I bought it that she needed the high back one come January first . I was not impressed , why are they selling the normal one's still in the store if the law states they are not safe ? My daughter is tall for her age and I had to move her sooner then I thought I would . She doesn't like the high back one because she compains it hurts her back . Obviously she doesn't find the back comfortable and in my opinion how is a back on it going to keep her any safer if we were in an accident . To me the only thing a booster does is raise the child more so they can see out the window . Even though I will follow the law , I don't agree with it . | | | | | | |

| | The booster seat raises the child so the seat belt hits them across the chest where it should and not in a place that is more dangerous for them. | | | |

| | Seatbelt laws in Australia, well yes we have seatbelt laws for our children our children are not allowed to sit in the front seat, under 3 years of age. It does not depend on size so far, and they don't have to sit in a booster until the age of 8 so I think that this is quite ridiculous,. as I have never heard of seen a child sit in one up to that age I do believe that it could be up to 4 years of age. | | | | | | |

| | Pennsylvania has had this law for a while now. I think it is fair because seatbelts on little kids and strangle them so the booster seat gives them the height to that it won't strangle them. | | | | | | |

| | I think whatever testing shows to be the safest should be the law. It is so important to give our little ones the safest environment they can get. I hear they will be changing the laws here soon to something similar to what you mention. I wish they would consider putting seat belts into school buses and have the seat belts designed for smaller kids. | | | | | | |

| | My state has a similar law and I don't agree with it either. I can understand the 4 years old, 40 pounds or 4 feet tall, but it just seems stupid to me to have an 8 yearold in booster seat. I think that state is getting far to involved in some areas and ignoring other areas, like the increasing rate of over weight kids. | | | | | | |

| | I live in Ontario,Canada and that law has been in effect for over two yrs now ,and I kind of like it,my daughter turned 8 in november,06 and the first thing she did was take the seat out of the car,and puts it back on occaision so she can see out the window..It is also safer because seat belts in cars are not made for the size of children they are made for adults, and if you watch the crash test dummies when they test these vehicles you will see why these laws are put into place.I also know firsthand that its a great law as my family was involved in a rollover accident on feb.21.2003,and without the booster seat my daughter would have had worse injuries then what she ended up with.. | | | | | | |

| | I think that this law is a good thing for most places due to the fact that some parents do not make their children put on their seat belts and there are so many accidents where the children have been thrown from the car due to neglectful parents. I think that this law is only to protect the children and for that I think that the government has made a good decision. | | | | | | |

| | A cae seat or booster ata ge 8 is an embarassment for the kid but I guess if all the kids have to do it, that makes sense but it's agood safety feature | | | | | | |
