How true that accupuncture can alleviate scoliosis? |
| |
| Only two years ago that I found out that I have a levoscoliosis in my lumbar spine, then last year I found out that i had also scoliosis in lower thoracic. I am thinking of going to an accupuncturist. They say that accupuncture could help to manage my backbone problem and definitely return it to normal. I know that accupuncture is beneficial to some health problems, but I do not know if it is true with scoliosis. I want my backbone to return to normal and I do not want to take pain relievers all the time whenever I am in pain because I believe that medicine regardless how good it is, it has always a side effects. Can someone tell me if could accupuncture could help me? Is there anyone could tell me how to deal with scoliosis? | | | | | |

| | accupuncture is good for many things. i have read that accupuncture and yoga relieve scoliosis. it is said that accupuncture seems to loosen the spine and using the breath to elongate the spine in different positions of the spine brings the spine back to alignment. but all scoliosis have tightness of the hips and really the rest of the body that needs to be addressed. so yoga is good for this. it takes about 6 months to fully experience the use of yoga for scoliosis. hope this helps you and you get the proper treatment to relieve the scoliosis. no matter what medicine does have side effects and in turn can be more harmful to you than helpful. good luck. | | | | | | |

| | I don't think accupuncture could return your bone to normal. I believe that once you have scoliosis, it would be there for lifetime but there are some medications to lessen the pain. I am suffering from some sort of scoliosis but I do not take any medication because I don't have money. I just do some light exercises to alleviate some pains. | | | | | | |

| | Before you acupuncture treatments, it is important to inform all of your health care providers about any treatment that you are using or considering, including acupuncture. Ask about the treatment procedures that will be used and their likelihood of success for your condition or disease. If you decide to use acupuncture, choose the practitioner with care. Also check with your insurer to see if the services will be covered. Acupuncture needles are metallic, solid, and hair-thin. People experience acupuncture differently, but most feel no or minimal pain as the needles are inserted. Some people are energized by treatment, while others feel relaxed. Improper needle placement, movement of the patient, or a defect in the needle can cause soreness and pain during treatment. take care, Bye 'n have a nice time | | | | | | |

| | Scoliosis is a side-to-side curvature of the spine.Scoliosis is a lateral (side-to-side) curve in the spine, usually combined with a rotation of the vertebrae Curve progression is greatest near the adolescent growth spurt. Scoliosis that begins early on is more likely to progress significantly than scoliosis that begins later in puberty Acupuncture and acupressure may also help reduce pain and discomfort, but they cannot halt scoliosis development either.so it is better to prefer surjury.Surgery can usually correct 40-50% of the curve, and sometimes as much as 80%. Surgery cannot always completely remove pain. | | | | | | |

| | You can also try alternative medicine like chiropratic or the Dorn methods. Both the methods are non invasive and have relatively high success rates when treated early (the curvature being about 10-20 degrees). I've tried the chiropratic approach, and it helped stop the progression of my spine's curve. | | | | | | |

| | In most cases, scoliosis is not painful, but there are certain types of scoliosis than can cause back pain. Additionally, there are other causes of back pain, which your doctor will want to look for as well. Be sure you consult a spine doctor (either orthopedic or neurosurgeon). For curves greater than 40 degrees, surgery may be recommended to heart and lung problems or problems carrying a pregnancy. | | | | | | |

| | I have scoliosis.. After a lot of tme and effort, I persuaded my GP to refer me to a "specialist".His name was Mr Freeman at Queens Medical University hospital. It was confirmed that I had 42 degree curve but this specialist told me that I was "imagining the pain." So don't expect too much from the so-called experts. | | | |
