Should religion be taught in public schools?

sure its fair, as long as you teach ALL religions, not just the most popular one.And I think its also to talk about atheism at thesame time to make sure that those people don't get discriminated against as well. Possibly the best teacherofreligion would be an atheist, since he/she doesn't have any hidden agenda to make converts.

well it is our religious and social duty to teach the youth about the religion and ethics, otherwise how can you ever expect them to be brought up well?
By the way i dont know where you come from but usually in muslim countries like Pakistan pupils are not forced to take Islamic classes it optional for them

Would certainly say Yes!! There should be a way to showcase all religions and not offend any one of them. Kids could learn the commonality that they share and yes the differences. God is known by many names and there are many roads to Him. So why not tell of religion in all its forms and let the children guided by the parents make their choices when their times come. No one doctrine, tell of them all!
