I like to learn how to play the piano and now I have so much questions. |
| |
| If I learn how to play a piano, am I not too old to be a student for that, I am 37? Is it expensive to follow the lessons? I live in an appartmentbuilding, we dont have the room neither the money for a piano, how can I practice, that is something I need to do than every day? And my last question: I love how to learn how to play the piano but I am skilled in music, dont know music terms, music notes or what so ever. It only seems nice for me to learn. And it is something that I always wanted. What is it in practice terms? | | | | | |

| | I've started to teach myself the basics (on a keyboard). It's the same way I taught myself to play guitar. I don't know very many "music terms", either, but I find them not very important. So, I say go on and try to teach yourself a little bit before you ask for instructions. | | | | | | |

| | You should be able to find a teacher who will teach out of his or her home for $15 - 25 / week. Also, you can purchase a keyboard to use for practice and it will be small enough to fit into your apartment, plus it's easier to move when you move. | | | | | | |

| | when I took piano lessons I went to my neighbors house to practice so I could learn. Before you sign up for lessons I would make sure there is a place to go to where you could practice because you won't be able to learn everything you need to know from the lessons. I you can keep a beat you should be able to learn how to play with enough practice and a competent teacher. I don't know how much lessons cost but the probably rage anywhere from $10-$50 a lesson. Perhaps you could buy a keyboard which would be cheaper than a whole piano so it could allow you some practice. | | | | | | |

| | i mean if you start professionally right now, you'll be fairly profficient with the instrument by the time you're 45, and that too if you practice everyday..you probably wont be able to play really fast pieces by the time you're 50, but that's entirely subjective..about the piano..well what you're just starting off, you can buy one of those yamaha keuboards..after a couple of years of saving you can buy a discleaver or a 2nd hand piano.. | | | | | | |

| | I am not dreaming about a professional career as a piano player. I only think, maybe stupid, that learning to play an instrument well just belongs to your upbringing. And because I dont have had that I want to do it myself. I do not want to be a pro, a pre is just as fine. Thank you for answering. Nickynic | | | |

| | You'll only be too old to learn something when they nail your coffin, don't ever let people say it otherwise. Living in an apartment is not a problem, as said before, you can have a keyboard, which is much smaller and much less expensive, also! Getting to know musical terms and notes is something that comes over with time and practice, I'd suggest you to take a book about music theory, there must be many great ones in almost any bookstore nearby (sorry, can't recommend you any, unless you live in Brazil)! :D I don't play the piano, but it's one of my future goals, also! It takes time to master, but that's no problem, you're just 37!!! ;) See ya! | | | | | | |

| | Thanks for your encouraging words, andylest! I am sure I will learn how to play the piano sometimes. I feel only so stupid I never thought about buying myself a keyboard instead of a whole piano. That was something I simply forgot. I dont need to buy a piano, I can first practice on a keyboard....The piano will then be by the time I reached concert podia's (and a bigger house). Love to hear from you all, thank you! Nickynic | | | |
