Lanterns or Flashlights? |
| |
| When out camping do you use a lantern(propane, camp fuel, batteries) or do you use flashlights? We use flashlights but have thought of getting a propane lantern. | | | | | |

| | We use all of the above. : ) We use propane fueled lanterns and camp stove, battery and solar powered flashlights. Our children use solar powered radios. During the very hot summer months my husband will take a marine battery and hook a fan to it so as to stir the air in the tent. I love camping topics! | | | | | | |

| | We use flashlights and lanterns. I have battery operated lanterns for the tents, the propane lanterns we hang on poles around the campsite and the flashlights we use when we are walking around. I find it very handy to have all three! | | | | | | |

| | We use flashlights and propane lanterns. Those lanterns come in handy at dusk to light up the picnic table or take to the edge of the lake for night fishing. Flashlights are handy to walk to the bathrooms with or finding out what that "noise" was in the tent..lol | | | | | | |

| | We use propane/duel fuel lanterns along with 2 candle lanterns. The candle lanterns come in handy to light up the tent or if we have to go potty. No flashlights for us. | | | | | | |

| | I would just like to add that I agree with most other users here. I like to use flashlights for walking about, and a gas lantern for the table. You definitely only want to use the gas lantern outside of the tent though. Whether you use the camping fuel type, or the propane type, they both put off noxious fumes. The I would recommend with a either kind of gas lantern is taking it out of the box and getting familiar with lighting it at home before you get up in the woo with it. If you are depending on that light, and then find that you can't get it lit, it really sucks! They are really nice once you master them though. If you get the coleman fuel type, make sure you save the box for packing it back and forth...saves you slopping fuel elsewhere in the transport. I have a couple of lantern-style lights with flourescent-type bulbs, that run on batteries. One of them takes 6 or 8 "C" batteries. The other one takes one of those big lantern type batterys... I like them because have a slider-type multi-function switch, so you can choose to light up just one bulb for low light, or both bulbs if you need more light. And there's no messing with propane or camping fuel or mantles. I like them when I'm camping without my husband there, so I don't have to mess with getting a gas one going. Happy Camping! | | | | | | |

| | When we go camping, we use both flashlights and lanterns. We have a battery powered lantern that we use which is really nice. It comes in handy and it's rather bright. I'm thinking about buying a hand crank flashlight or something similar so we won't have to bother with batteries and the expense that comes with them. | | | | | | |
