How do you feel about movies like constantine?

The movie is great. Nice scene work and script, great casting crew and director. The concept isn't new - the battle between good and evil - but it has never been put up like this. Yes it depicts the differences between good and evil from a Christian view.
The movie talks about something every one of us wondered and let's us have a glimpse of what happens both ways:good or bad, of course in a Christian view, but still it is a mind trap.

Loved the movie.

To me it underscores an eternal question. What if God and the Devil had struck a bargain to make the earth a battleground? Reminds me of the law of physics: to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. There can be no white without black, no good without evil.

Despite all the good things that Constantine does, despite all the demons he puts away, he still cannot enter heaven because of something that he did when he was younger...commit suicide. Makes me wonder... if God is a forgiving God, then why would He not accept the atonement made for the past sin? If He wouldn't accept Constantine because of the latter's pride, that would have been understandable. After all, all of Constantine's acts seem like he does them because he wants to go to heaven when he dies. Not for the sake that they are good, they are the right things to do. Constantine has become self-righteous. Yet when the angel presumes to become self-righteous, he is struck down and loses his wings. Constantine now has the nerve to bargain with the devil, and win the bargain too, because the greatest sacrifice anyone can commit is to lay down his life for someone else. Yet it seems all along that Constantine had this exactly in mind, because he flips Old Scratch the bird just as he is being carried up to heaven, which has been his goal all along. So no, he is not exactly a good person, but you can admire his guts and his sheer effrontery.

The movie reminds us that nothing's perfect... no clear cut edges, nothing's purely black or white. And that while we're on this earth, we can still choose to do things that can change what's around us and even shape the future.

In an oblique way, Constantine also reminds me of "Daredevil". I don't really like Daredevil all that well, but my favorite scene has to be Daredevil hugging the cross on the roof of the church after Elektra dies. To me it's about being human, about needing redemption, about wanting forgiveness, but feeling that we are unworthy of it.

yeh this movie is great .. i ll love a sequel just if cosntantine role is played by keanu reves again... the character just fits him .. don ya think?

I went to a sneak preview of this new attempt for Keanu Reeves to try his hand at acting andI was quite impressed. I wasn't impressed with Keanu Reeves's acting skills but the movie as a whole was quite impressive. I didn't really expect much out of it, which is why I thought it was so good. Although Keanu Reeves still hasn't learned how to act well, Rachel Weisz does a great job and I hate to say it, Shia Lebouf was actually quite good in this movie and funny.
The way this movie was presented was beautiful. The way it was shot was great and the different special effects were stunning. It seems that Hollywood just keeps finding new ways to stun us with great eye candy.
Even though, I have never read any of the Hellblazer comics (meaning I have no idea how similar this movie is to the comic book) the story was very intriguing.
The opening scene of the movie is so freakin awesome. I'm not going to say anything else about it, it's just great. I hope you think so too. Now go watch this movie already!

iu think it's a great movie... i hv read comics about this.... it lives up to its reputation..

I think the movie does depict the difference between the two: heaven and hell, good and evil light and darkness. I mean I love the idea of being able to actually see the angels and demons the way Constatine did and then be able to send the demons back to hell. Or to just sit down and have a chat with an angel that would be really cool.

I think that makes it cool and it gives the viewers food for thought after they watch the movie, makes them think about it for a longer while. In some cases it might affect them enough for them to change their life but that's very rare and I doubt anyone got so inspired by a movie, although the potential is there for it. I also personally love when the hero is being given a choice to be good or bad and other moral tests...
