| | thanks vikingwest, one of my faves too. I've seen a lot of his recent tour material on u-tube but his voice has gone a little at the top end. Somehow detracts a little from the spontinaety he had in the 70's-80's---Pete. | | | |

| | I guess I saw him play live in 1978. Sure do wish I could recall more of it than I do. My friends tell me it was a great show. Even better than my show... I vaguely remember the warm up band... It was at the Met Center in Bloomington, Minnesota. All I can really remember is thinking how great it was that snow is cold on your face. Sad account huh? | | | |

| | You're lucky you saw him live. I had the chance near me in Manchester, England a couple of years ago but missed the ticket sales. Have heard him since the 60s on the radio but being a tight arse I never bought any records so never got to hear any of his album tracks. Splashed out on a few cd's about five years ago and It's like being a kid in a candy store. Must be my second childhood.---Pete. | | | |

| | I paid 8.99 US to get in. Cheap by todays standards. I had three older brothers and made copies off their vinyl onto tape....crappy recordings yes but they were mine. I have the two CDs mentioned earlier but thats all. Hey I saw Pele play live too but thats another story. I at least remember the Pele show though.... | | | |

| | Pele? You play football too?---No strike that one as well. I've got those two as well plus stormwatch, too old to rock+roll, war child, songs from the woods and broadsword and the beast. out of those I would rate (according to MY taste) Aqualung 100% down to broadsword, 0% Just can't get a grip on a single track of broadsword but maybe that's just me. Just shows how varied his style can be though. Not just the same old rubbish year to year. | | | |

| | Piggiehandcuffs?========nice. One of my favorite tracks as well. realy light and chirpy but with crisp folky lyrics. If you compare Bungle, up to me and mother goose with his heavier stuff you would'nt beleive it was the same band. | | | |

| | Hi angel, Like it, always keep it turned down a bit apart from the intro, Sweet or what? Do you just listen to this one for it's agressivenes or do the lyrics make you think? A bit of a seedy picture don@t you think? I can't make my mind up myself.--Pete. | | | |

| | I still listen to Jethro Tull frequently and have practically the whole catalog on CD, so I am NOT too old to rock and roll. Since I drive my Dad around all the time now, I mostly listen to quieter works like Songs From the Wood. It's really hard to pick a favorite but I do love Witch's Promise (which I noticed was one of your picks on your profile.)I love Reasons For Waiting and Teacher and Thick as a Brick- but I could go on and on...and sometimes do. Being an American, I didn't understand all of the references, but some of them I have since gotten. For instance in Aqualung, I did not see why anyone would pick up a "dog end" or why you would go to the bog to warm your feet, because a bog to me is a swamp and not at all warm. Another funny one to me is a song, I think on Broadsword, talking about being watched and the voices chorus "Stares!" but to me it sounds like they are saying, "Squirrels!!" | | | | | | |

| | I also like his quieter, more melodic tracks as I get older, I think my two picks, (non aqualung) would be Acres Wild and Teacher. Some of his references are puzzling to me too, even though I'm from the same neck of the woods. Dog ends, also known as dimps in Engand reffer to discarded cigarette butts, a fortunate find for most tramps and "bog" is English slang for toilet, somewhere to find shelter. One thing I find strange at the opening of "Too Old" and "Quiz kid" is the phrase, "trouser cuffs far too tight", I'm sure he coined this himself! | | | |

| | The inventive use of language by Ian Anderson has always made his music more enjoyable for me than just great instrumentals, although I did try to learn to play the flute at one time. Unfortunately I have no musical ability. I have been trying to learn more of English english since the Beatles. When the series Duchess of Duke Street first came on I would not have understood much of her except that it was captioned for the deaf (and for the non-cockney.) Years of watching Miss Marple and various crime dramas have paid off and now I can understand Prime Suspect ! | | | |

| | Thick as a Brick - masterpiece followed by My God, Aqualung, Mother Goose, Locomotive Breath, Sweet Dream, Living in the Past, Look Into the Sun, Nothing Is Easy, Fat Man (lol), and J.S. Bach's Bouree are just among the favorite ones, I presume I don't have to emphasize that I love them all!(?) | | | | | | |

| | Album where "Look Into The Sun" is, is called "Stand Up". This album is a must have! You probably heard Bouree (Bach originally) - well Bouree is from that album ;} | | | |
