How long does it take light to travel from the sun to the earth?

i think is more time than what i travel to go to work everyday.....

it takes eight minutes . i asked my dad who is a keen astronomy fan . he gave me thre reason but i cant remember it all so i wont try.there is nothing my father doesnt know about astronomy.
