So we have thanksgiving, christams, valentines, easter and a host of others should we just call them Holidays? give them no names so other people of different faiths won't be offened? See some people belive that this is what they want, like that guy in washington who doesn't have custody of his daughter but is going to court to get in god we trust off money, and to remove the stone from in front of the capital. So what do you think let me know.

I think a lot more people would get offended if you took away the name of a certain holiday - they have names for reasons, many of which are similar around the world, etc. Like christmas for example, it means the same thing around the world but many countries celebrate it at different times - eg, uk/usa 25 december, ukraine 6 January (I think) but they call it the same thing. I think it would be too confusing if they were just holiday, you would have to call them holiday 1, holiday 2 or something to keep track and that would be so sad.

I think it is ridiculous that people want to take the religious holidays, of a religion they don't even belong to, and change them. If you are not a Christian, then don't celebrate Christmas or Easter. If you have a great need to celebrate a day glorifying shopping or coloring eggs, then create your own holiday, but don't try to demean my religion or otherwise impinge on my religious beliefs. How would you feel if all the illegal immigrants got together and said since they are not citizens they find Independence Day offensive and therefore it needs to be changed to Picnic and Fireworks day to celebrate celebrating?

No I don't think that holidays should be changed. They mean something important. Most of the Holy ones are really days of worship, but man has commericalized them to a holiday. The others like Valentines, mother's day and such are all about business and selling cards and gifts. Those can be changed and more added, I don't care. But Christmas, Easter, Hanukka, are Holy. Blessings, M&M

I think that would work and I think it would be fair to others who don't directly celebrate those holidays.

I think we should keep calling them by their name. It is been the way it has been for years and people of different faiths have to accept that.

No, if we call them hoildays then we need to continue calling them hoildays. If we go to another country we are expected to go by their rules and customs, are they going to make changes for us - no!
