You can get kong toys for your pup, it'll help with her teething, and you can stuff them with treats, cheese, or peanut butter for a delicious snack for her. As for taking her outside, they probably told you that because she doesn't have all her shots yet. If you have a backyard, maybe take her there until she's had them all, at least she'll get used to going potty outside. If I may, i'd like to give you just one advice..when you say "she's so happy to see us when we get home" did you mean she jumps on you guys and acts all excited? Because, even though most people think it's cute and fun, you should get her used to not jumping up and down on you guys when you walk in, just come see you and wait until you pet her or pick her up. Now it's fun and cute, because it's a little dog, but imagine if you had a rottweiler!! It's a sign of excitement and domination. Of course, i'm just sharing advice with you;but what you do with it is up to you! Have fun with your new dog!

It's always hard to figure out what's okay to leave with puppies when you are not home. You need to make sure (as Im sure you already have) that whereever she is left is completely puppy proof because as Im sure you know by now, puppies EAT EVERYTHING! Be sure not to leave her with any toys she can choke on. I only let my chihuahuas play with their toys while supervised.

As for the outside part, never heard of it. I've had all three of my lil babies since they were 12 weeks and they all went outside right away. Granted they MUST be supervised at allt imes while out because thats when they really get into trouble!

How old is your dog and where do you live? If it is cold,, get the little thing a sweater.

Try nylabones and kongs. Stay away from rawhide and cow toes.

Put peanut butter in the kong. The love that. I don't know if they make buster cubes that small, but check it out. DOgs love that as well. They are cubes that you but food into. As the dog plays and flips it over and pushes it around, the food will fall out.

While she is a pup, you may want to consider a crate while you are gone, rather then finding furniture chewed up.

i also have a little chihuahua. i got him when he was just over a month. i always took him outside and it never hurt him. i dont think that it would hurt to take him out.ive never heard of that before either

OMG.. please go see my post about our new baby! Her name is Corona Rose. She's been so wonderful to potty train. She's paper trained for the most part and will remain that way until at least spring. I don't want to risk taking that tiny little thing out in sub zero weather!

Corona was born on November 25th and went for her shots today. She's actually my daughter's dog because she's longed for a chihuahua for years and finally got her dream come true with this little bugger!

Why would you think you can't take yours out till it's 4-5 months old? Because of the cold weather? I have never heard that advice regarding a new puppy.

We're getting a new puppy next week.
Ours is going to get big. It's a Goldendoodle pup.

Congratulations on your new baby.She sounds fabulous!We have brother/sister chihuahua/jack russell mixes that we've had since they were 5 weeks old.They weren't easy to housebreak at all.We got them in May 3 years ago and they never had any problems being outside.Just stay with her outside and don't let her eat grass.Taking her outside is the only way she's truly going to learn to be housebroke.Our female has more of the chihuahua traits.She does the same thing as yours does with her bone...goes and hides it,but in my 8 year old's bed.I think everyone else's advice on what you can get her to keep her entertained is great.All the best to you and your new family member.
