LovingIt (2243) | 4 years ago | You are who I wanna be!!! LOL. Every Christmas I say that's what I'm going to do next year, but I never do. Last year I did manage to have it all done by the end of Nov. which was a big improvement for me.
| |
ilse72 (1094) | 4 years ago | End of November is good too! You still missed the huge maddening crowds! I also address all my Christmas cards before Thanksgiving and mail them on December 1st. I like to enjoy the holiday by getting the "work" out of the way early. :)

LovingIt (2243) | 4 years ago | Ummmmm. I'm almost afraid to ask, but WHAT do you make on Christmas Eve?
ROFL. No, not too many guys wear fuzzy kitty slippers.
Yep, I'm voting for you for ruler of MyLot.

suitsme (2559) | 4 years ago | I shop all year at flea markets, yard sales and thrift stores. I collect up stuff I think they will like then make some kind of memory thing. Last year I made ornaments. This year I'm making wall hangings out of pieces of jewelry, broken glass and a bunch of little things I have around. When my grand daughter comes and breaks my stuff, I save the pieces. I'm going to make her a memory plack out of drywall mud. That way when she breaks my stuff I can rub her nose in it even after I'm gone.
| |
LovingIt (2243) | 4 years ago | That sounds neat. I need to make my grandkids, especially my wild 5 yr old grandson one of those. You don't really make them all on Christmas Eve though do you? It would take a big something to put all the stuff he's broken on.
| |
suitsme (2559) | 4 years ago | Na, the stuff is all over my house. I have been saving broken glass for over 20 years, I make stepping stones out of cement. Wow! You have grandkids! I thought you were a teenager or in your 20s. Now I like you even more!
| |
suitsme (2559) | 4 years ago | Although I should have known. Anyone with slippers like that would HAVE to be a grandma!
| |
suitsme (2559) | 4 years ago | My friend wants me to come help her pick on some Mormans, I hope (and pray) you aren't one. You are welcome to come join the fun!
| |
LovingIt (2243) | 4 years ago | I've got two grandkids. A grandaughter that adores me and a grandson that tells me he doesn't like me (but he really does -- I tell him he has to whether he likes it or not. haha)
| |
LovingIt (2243) | 4 years ago | No, I'm not a mormon. ROFL. If you knew me you'd die laughing just at the thought of that. hahaha!
| |
suitsme (2559) | 4 years ago | Oh goodie! So you hate all religions but mine, like me right?
| |
LovingIt (2243) | 4 years ago | No, I hate all of them, but mine!!! LOL
| |
suitsme (2559) | 4 years ago | No, now that I think of it, I better start sooner, the plaster takes at least a day to dry. The one for my granddaughter, I have most of the pieces in a heart shaped cake pan. I keep it where she can get at it. She played with it for almost half the day today. There are little animals (pieces), we still play with them even though they are broke. She's so cute, today she broke one, again and got all worried that I would get upset.
Anyway, when I come across something she likes, I throw it in the heart pan. I have beads and heart a lot of heart shaped things. She is only 3, I did't try to explain to her what I'm doing. Every time she plays with the stuff, which is all the time, I get all excited thinking about how happy she will be when she opens it. And how she will be able to touch her memories of me after I God takes me away from this darn snow. She adores me too, and I adore that she adores me!
Lol, I have a feeling you know who is going to pop out of the bushes at any time now.

LovingIt (2243) | 4 years ago | LOL. She'll love it.
The best Christmas present I ever gave my grandaughter was a cat. She was 3 years old then too. He was still a kitten at that time. I'm not sure why I got him, I just fell in love with him and took him home. The cat loved her and she loved the cat and would wag him around with her everywhere she went. When it would come time to go home she'd cry because she couldn't take the kitten home with her. I finally talked my daughter into letting her have the cat. On Christmas morning when it came time to open the presents I put him in a box (which I had already wrapped) and put the already wrapped box on and sat with my elbow on it so that he wouldn't jump out too soon. She was soooooo excited when she opened that. She still talks about it and she and Jake (the cat) are still best buds.

suitsme (2559) | 4 years ago | Aww
If I gave her an animal, I would probably get thrown out in the snow on Christmas day!
I just ended up with her bunny, it's name is Lucky, she calls it Yucky. I got it because it's getting cold, they had her on the porch. Mommy didn't want the mess at her house so I get stuck loving it and getting attached. I can't begin to tell you how many animals my kids "rescued" and brought to my house. They take all the credit, I get the mess.
She is so cute, I have all these glass beads I let her play with. Today she filled all her pockets and wanted me to "zip" them up but they didn't have zippers. So I pinned them closed and she played the rest of the day rattling around. She always runs around stuffing as much stuff in her pockets as she can, as she is leaving, hoping mommy won't see her.

9. LaGitana (263) | 4 years ago | For me it usually depends on when I get into the mood. If it snows I'm more in the mood. Sometimes it depends on when I have money. Since I don't have regular paychecks, I just wait for when it happens. Last year I had a slow year in my store, then one week before Christmas, I had a big increase, so I was shopping fairly late, like Christmas Eve.
