well, here's my "recipe" for french toast, can't really help you with the crepes.

first, and most important thing is the bread that you use. you need a good bread and one that is a few days old. remember this is a dish from impoverished people, they figured out a way to make nothing (stale bread) into something. in fact, look for recipes called "pain perdue" it translates to "lost bread" which proves what i mentioned above. don't get a french bread because its too airy. get a thick, heavy loaf of something, something with some muscle to it!

as for the sauce, you'll need a couple eggs, a few drops of vanilla extract, whole milk and a good amount of cinnamon. whisk these things together and then give your bread slices a good soak in the the milk mixture. Then butter a hot pan and put the soaked bread into the hot pan, let it cook for a good three four minutes before flipping. repeat process for all of the slices.

The syrup is also important, recently, i've fallen in love with 100% canadian maple syrup but back in america i always used ms Buttersworth.

Another hint, is to put the plates you'll use in a warm oven to heat them up. this way, when you put the syrup on the plate is heats up and is really tasty!

good luck!

I can't help you with crepes either, I've never heard of them. Anyways, my husband makes the best french toast. He puts brown sugar and cinnamon in the mix then sprinkles brown sugar on top of the toast when it's finished. He also adds vanilla to the mix. I've even seen him put cinnamon applesauce in! It's always good!

My mom makes the most bad @ss french toast EVER!

I can't give you her recipe cause there's really not one, we allways just eyeball it....

about 1 & half cups milk mixed with one egg, a teaspoon of sugar & lots of cinnamon. Dip the bread in the mixture coating both ides, then put into a frying pan coated with abit of butter so it doesn't stick. Cokk until till done.

then I top mine off with powdered sugar, apple sauce & syrup!!

YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
