What are your opinions about Al Gore's Documentary on global warming? | | Have you seen that documentary? It's called "Inconvenient Truth." It's about global warming and its huge, huge, impact to our lives. It discusses all the threats that global warming poses to our mother earth. I was actullay moved by the documentary. Al Gore was pretty convincing. I would recommend it to everyone. A lot of people criticize AL Gore. They say that the documentary is meant to make Pres. Bush look bad and he's just sourgraping for losing against Bush. But, although Al Gore's intention for doing the documentary can be put into question, the message that he is sending is very clear: We have become so engrossed in accumulating all the wealth in the world. We often talk about "growth." Sadly, we seem to have a totally wrong idea about growth. We suck all the oil in the middle east countries, cut down all the trees and convert lands to commercial districts, etc. all for the purpose of being economically powerful. But, can we achieve the same goal without harming the environment? I think we can do this. We just need to have POLITICAL WILL, as what Al Gore suggests. This is very true especially in the Philippines. I've learned in class that there are actually a lot of environmental agencies in the Philippines that address specific environmental concerns but they are not visible (meaning, they are not doing their jobs) that's why people do not know of them. I think we owe it to our children to do whatever we can to save the earth.

Global warming is a reality and this documentary has nothing to do with bush. Infact talks about global warming, greenhouse gases and it's effects have been going on for so long, but it's been suppressed by the government and by large companies, because it can affect their fuel business which is the main source of this problem. But now, everyone around the world is feeling the effects of this, as summers are getting hotter, winters are getting colder, more tsuanmis, more storms, and now people are finally starting to take it seriously and take more notice of it. i see stuff like this on national geographic all the time. But this one will be an eyeopener cuz it's more popular worldwide.

And for every statistic about more storms, tsunamis, etc there are to promote the idea that man is killing the planet, there are an equal amount of legitimate statistics that say it's a cyclical thing, that happens every 20 years or so. Back in the 60s, there was a big scare about the imminent ice age. It never happened. That's not to say that global warming won't happen. It might be real. But based on the current evidence, I'm not convinced. Also, America can do everything correctly, reduce toxic emmissions to zero, and it won't change the world one iota. Third world countries spew chemicals into the air with reckless abandon. Until we get Africa, South America and parts of Asia up to speed, it's pointless to worry. Energy efficient light bulbs notwithstanding, until people quit relying so much on cars (coughbicyclecough), central heating and the like, and wind and solar energy is encouraged, ain't nothing going to happen.

MrCoolantSpray (744) | 2 years ago | A book I recommend is "The Party's Over". It's about the end of the gasoline era. I haven't seen Gore's movie, but if you liked it, you'll probably like that book.

Good to see you recognize what poluting habits the areas you mention are happening, but its now time you open your eyes to the fact that these things don't just dissappear when entering the environment... its as arrogantly ignorant as Americas expectation of the war in Vietnam only going to last a couple of months. As for the 1960s, we didn't have the resources to gather all the information to make an accurate conclusion. so, as your name suggests, your poluting beliefs are harmful to our environment.
