My toddler wants to wear the same outfit all the time |
|
I just got my toddler a Disney princess dress (Sleeping beauty) coz she is into this stuff nowadays. I thought as days gone by, she will get tired of dressing up and I can put it away for halloween. It is the exact opposite. Every waking moment, she is dressed on it...doesn't want to leave the house if she is not wearing the dress. It is a struggle especially it is still winter and so cold outside. I can get her out of it if I told her it is dirty and will wash it. If I do this, she will keep on asking if the dress is dry, etc. Did your children went thru the same phase? What I did nowadays is telling her we have to keep the dress new for Halloween or else we can't go trick or treat. She buys this now and then but not all the time.

1. sellj75 (191) | 3 years ago | I think that is normal for all toddlers. They like to be independent and choose their own clothes, and dress up is a favorite thing for them to do, especially girls. I have a little boy who went through that with a power rangers suit. he only got tired of that when he got a new spiderman suit. he even wnated to wear it to school (he's in preschool). He has now out of that phase, so I'm waiting to see what happens net..:)

3. mushu17 (9) | 3 years ago | It's pretty normal for kids to get attatched to something. It doesn't even need to be an outfit or blanket. And they don't need to be toddlers either. My second son got a new helmet for his 6th birthday and was so proud of his first "big boy" helmet, I couldn't get him to take it off for almost two weeks unless he was having a bath. Thankfully it was summer so he didn't have to fight with the teacher about it. He would even sleep in it. I figured if it got uncomfortable he would take it off so I didn't worry about it too much. And as for saving it for Halloween, if it's a little ratty by then, it's not the end of the world. Atleast she really got to enjoy it. Most costumes are worn once and then never again. You're getting your moneys worth out of this outfit.:)

4. poppoppop111 (3238) | 3 years ago | lots of kids go through this. what you could do is let her wear it at home but when you are going out explain to her that it's not proper attire for outdoors. tell her she can only wear it at home. if she doens't want to take it off to go out then just tell her she's going to lose the dress completely and won't be able to wear it again. i'm sure she'll comprimise to just wear it at home.
