|  My son is a sea scout and the are this weekend camping out doors brrrrrrrrrrrrrr. they are at a competition camp with other scouts from our district. They build a Quincy out of snow and put hay down a few tarps and cover it with tarps and boughs from the trees. He has gone on this camp for 3 years now and i sit and worry every year, is he warm enough did i pack enough layers of clothes so on and so on lol. so have any of your children or maybe yourself every done this kind of camp?? I am a leader for the youngest scouts the beavers and our winter camp is indoors and that's enough for me I could not imagine spend the entire weekend outside no thank you. I will be glad when i pick him up tomorrow then maybe i can get some sleep lol.

| |  My stepson was in boyscouts until he was 15. They did the cold weather camping and everything was just fine. Sea Scouts is similar to Boy Scouts, and I'm sure the boys will be fine. They should have to prove their skills to their leaders before they can do it. Also, the boys should be the ones to pack their bags, not the parents. It's their responsibility to learn what they need and how to survive. Their leaders are there to check that they did ok, and that they're allright.
I wouldn't camp in the cold myself, but the boys always seem to have fun. :-)

| | He is a boy scout its just we live right on the lake so they have sea scouts instead of just boy scouts next year he will be a police venture its a great program keeps the kids interested. And he did pack himself i just made sure he had enough if i left it up to him he would wear the same clothes all weekend lol. I know he will be fine he has done it before but it does not stop me from worrying all weekend lol. | | | |

| | As little kids, they do their stuff inside. When they're older, they learn to do it themselves. But they're never just tossed out there to figure it out on their own. It's a great way for them to learn. I was surprised when SS was in 5th grade and he matured alot because of what he learned to do on his own in scouts. | | | |

| | it is a great program i like how where we are they do a little different program to keep the kids interested his scouts runs all year in the spring and summer they are sailing and in the fall and winter they do the regular scout program. Next year he could do fire, police or medical ventures he is choosing police vents cause they have the marine unit so he still gets to sail and he wants to be a cop so its a good start for him. | | | |

| | lol grateful that is a good choice of a word i know i would never be the parent they asked to help on this camp lol. I am fine for the spring and fall camps but this one no way. I hope to get asked for the 100 year jamboree this summer that would be and experience that's for sure. | | | |
