This California birdhouse craftsman has a colorful business plan.   

Glen Morgan is not your typical builder. As a birdhouse entrepreneur in Oak View, California, Glen takes a unique approach in his selling tactics—he dresses all in pink.

From a large floppy hat, inscribed with the saying, “This is the for the birds!” to fuchsia pink bib overalls and gym shoes, this man knows how to get attention. He even has pink-tinted sunglasses!

It worked when I was a home builder trying to sell homes, so I figured it would work when I started building creative birdhouses,” Glen says.

And he certainly has received attention. Last year at the Ventura County Fair, Glen showed up with his multistory, 7-foot birdhouse creation called “Hoot’s Haunt”. He was hoping the structure would help him sell a few birdhouses, but instead, he found himself as a contestant in the art competition.

“I won first place, along with a big blue ribbon and a $600 check,” Glen says with a smile.
