Does anybody know how many zeros are there from 1 to 1 million?

If you were to write the number 1 to 1,000,000 how many total zeros are there in all those numbers? Does anybody know? Is there a trick to doing this?
IE.. from 1 to 100 there are 11 zeros total.

The daughter of my friend have book that teach to write many zero's. The school teach math - with many zero's. I quess they are preparing them to count money in the Central Bank ? Do not write zero anymore 1M for 1 million, 1B for 1 billion.
