Thin actresses  |

 I really would like to know if there other people out there who think actesses are too thin.I get so nauseated when i see an actress on tv or in the movies anymore.They wear such skimpy clothes and you can see their bones sticking out. Not am I only deeply concerned about these actresses but am also worried about the impact on young girls.

I think sometimes the movie directors have something to do with a persons appearance when doing a movie. I have not had a problem with the way any of the actresses looked in any of the movies that I have seen.

Their are so many girls out their with severe eating disorders such as bulemia and anexoria and alot of it's because they see these models and actresses looking like skeletons so they think it's the way they should look like and it's not.I am very worried about these young impressionaable girls. | 4. vokey9472 (1124) | 1 year ago |  I think the actresses on TV and in movies are way too thin. Women are supposed to look like women not like 12 year old boys. Women are supposed to have curves. Just look at Calista Flockheart for a perfect example of the demands made on women in the film industry. When she did Birdcage, she looked like a healthy young woman. When she first started Ally McBeal she looked healthy. By the time Ally McBeal ended she was a walking skeleton. Courtney Thorn-Smith, who was also on Ally McBeal quit because the producers told her to lose 20 pounds because she appeared "fat" next to Calista. Portia de Rossi also quit because of demands to lose weight.
Some actresses have had to sue when threatened with firing over gaining weight while pregnant. HELLO!! If a woman is preggers, she has to gain weight. Maybe characters are written out of shows because the actress gets preggers or gains too much weight by the producers standards. Catherine Zeta Jones, who is beautiful, got tons of bad press for daring to gain 60 pounds or so while pregnant. She told the media "I am latin and we feed our babies".
The impact on young people is evident in that fact that little girls and boys as young as 6 are worried about getting fat. You have children as young as 8 being treated for anorexia and bulimia. Hollywood needs to wake up and start having healthy role models for our children. The average woman in America wears a size 14. The average actress wears a size 2. Something is seriously wrong if the public thinks that is healthy.

That is just downright ridiculous but what I can't understand is how guys can stand to hug a woman who 's bones are sticking our everywhere.Well,most guys anyway. | vokey9472 (1124) | 1 year ago | My son's preschool teacher is a size 00. Can you even imagine how hard it must be to stay that thin? She has two kids too!! Both her daughters are tiny little things too. I swear they must starve themselves and their daughters to stay that thin. I get hungry just looking at how thin she is. I brought cupcakes to the school the other day and she asked me if they were low-fat and sugarless (she knows that I am a diabetic) and I told her no, that I don't do diet stuff for the kids as it isn't healthy for growing minds and bodies. Her face fell. She told me that she just assumed that if I brought treats she could have one since I was diabetic and couldn't have sugar. I actually felt bad for her.
I felt even worse when she wouldn't let her daughter, who is in the class, have one. I overheard her telling her little girl "Abby, you know we don't eat sugar so we can't have a cupcake today, but I have sugarfree oatmeal cookies that you can have." I just thought that was so unfair. But it just shows the pressures that women and girls feel to be thin. My God, a mother telling a 4 year old child that she cannot have a cupcake because it has sugar in it.. that is just not right. | |

| 6. Lady_Justice (456) | 1 year ago |  I agree with you. Many actresses and models today are far too thin. They don't look healthy and I think it does damage the self-image of young girls who compare themselves to these impossibly thin, "perfect" people.
Kids should know that many of these women not only have unhealthy diets but that they also have plastic surgery, Botox, and have hair dressers, make up artists, and stylists to dress them perfectly. Who in real life can compete with that? Our kids need to know that they are beautiful from the inside out.

That was a wonderful response.I do think a little comes from the parents too.Look at how many mothers keep pushing their kids to be models or to compete in beauty pagents. They should be allowed to be kids and not pushed to be anything else. | |
