I am midway through my research prior to purchasing a video camera, and am pretty confused by the advices and suggestions from different quarters. Some people say that the good old digital tapes are the most reliable and we can get a very good camera with a lot of specifications for an affordable price that way. they say that a DVD camera can be cumbersome, as we may need to erase even a ten minute recording in the DVD before taking another shoot. And some say that the digital tapes are almost extinct and would soon be dead and gone from the market. Some suggest the Hard disc type, but they seem to be a bit too expensive. I need a videocam that has at least 4 megapixels, for recording interviews and shooting short movies with good picture and sound quality. I am interested in the model Sony DCR-DVD 90/E. What do you think about it? If there are any experts or interested parties here, please do respond, in layman's terms.

The harddisk version is pretty old but is a stable one. The DVD is in a nascent stage. Also, newer versions are coming to market everyday. The blue ray disk is almost out. It would definitely wipe out all the variants of the DVD. So it would be wise to go for the digital tape or the harddisk type. I think there a flash memory type camcorder. Any idea about that?
