Second Hand Furniture

I love second hand stores. I am a frugal shopper and buy things second hand and from garage sales a lot. You can get some really good deals. yes, there is a bunch of junk, but you can find some great deals, too. I think getting all of that for under $500 is a good deal as long as it's all great. Sounds like you did great. There is nothing wrong with getting pre-owned things.

It is quite sad that there are no stores in my locality which offers second hand furnitures. For me, they are better buys than brand new ones as such always turn out to be quite expensive. Considering how difficult it is to be earning much these days, it will always be best to cut on corners as regards expenses to be able to save for other pressing ones.

That sounds pretty good to me. I have a friend who has had some great deals at the Goodwill stores. Dont know you have them where you live but they have people working for them that who fix anything that might need repairs before you buy it.

I bought a new sofa from a company once that dealt in second hand furniture and was very pleased with it so went back and bought a freezer and again we were saving a fortune and you're right it is hard work when you're first starting out

yes, me and my hubby do that as well. We have the hospice shop here that is selling some second hand furnitures and i would say that most of the furnitures really are in a very good condition and much better than buying the new one for a good price. I am satisfied with the things that we bought. Beside from that, you know that the money goes into helping the charity as well.

When we moved into our first house (a rental) we had a bed and tv, everything else we were given by friends and family or we bought off friends. We were preparing for a baby at the same time, so we were grateful to have anything. Now we have our own house and have given away all of the old furniture and replaced it with furniture we've bought new.

I have found great deals on furniture. Sometimes in the Goodwill stores and Salvation Army. I refinished a table I found in Goodwill last year. Everyone that sees it asks where I got it and how much was it. I love telling them it was $25.00 and I paid $10.00 to refinish it myself. It turned out great, and the best part about it was that my daughter helped and it was a great way to spend time with her. She also learned how it is done, so whe she gets older she will be able to do the same and have nice furniture without having to spend a fortune until she wants to spend that kind of money.

I moved from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland with only clothing and a crib for my youngest daughter. We bought an air mattress bed for my oldest daughter and myself and then we went second hand store shopping. I have a fully furnished house, some was bought brand new, but being a single mom and a student doesn't make it easy. Usually only at christmas do I purchase anything brand new for myself or the house. To list some of what I bought, there was a couch set, coffee table set, lamp set (all for 125.00), then when I was in Halifax for a visit, I went into the Salvation Army thrift store and saw an amazingly beautiful, oversized, dark brown leather recliner. The only thing wrong with it was that the foot part that pops up was off it's track, I got it for $30.00. I still can't get over the great steal I got on it! So I brought it back to Newfoundland, and then fixed the track and it's perfect. Not a thing wrong with it and only $30.00!

Alot of people see second hand merchandise as dirty and just crude, but they aren't allowed to sell anything like that...back home we have huge companies like Sears and Zellers that donate over stock to second hand stores. It's great!

You did great look for Free Cycle in your area and then you can get used furniture for free. I always get second hand stuff it has more character.
