Besides using a bad word, what are both polite and downright mean ways to tell a person off? I've been through an ordeal taking care of a difficult disabled person, and I would like to be able to be firmer next time about what I will and won't put up with now that I have enough experience to where I have options on who to work with.
I get into situations in my life where I am too nice, or hang on too long.. monster roommate situations (with college roommate or friend), jobs with people who you can't please for anything, bosses from hell, jobs that I hate but hang onto because I don't have anything else lined up that anyone would hire me for, a coworker taking pictures of his hairy chest and saying it is for me, a coworker constantly looking over my shoulder pointing out what mistakes I am making, etc.
A few I could think of, if I could just work up the nerve to get it out of my brain and into the sound waves:
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT IT IS TIME TO QUIT: "You know, this just isn't working. I'd like to move on."
ANNOYING COWORKER OVER MY SHOULDER GIVING ME FLACK FOR THIS, THAT, AND THE OTHER THING: "Let me do my job, you do yours, thank you very much."
DIFFICULT CAREGIVING CLIENT: "If you are concerned about which way I cut potatoes, if it is really that important to you, I need to move on. I'll be putting my 2 week notice in when I leave today."
ANYONE: "Get a life!"
ANYONE: "Get off my case!!!!!!"
DIFFICULT CAREGIVING CLIENT: "You can either make the last two weeks together negative or you can make them positive. I'm done. I will no longer put up with your pointing out everything I do how you would do it differently.
ANNOYING FRIEND WHO WILL LET YOU BE OPEN: "There is a reason why we do things differently. It's because I'M NOT YOU!!!!"
ANYONE: "Leave me alone!"
(THIS ONE WORKED) UNEMPLOYED FOR SIX MONTHS FRIEND: "I cannot help you if you are not enrolled in a program for the hard to employ or some program that is willing to help you. You will have to depend on the government and your two sisters.
SOMEONE WHO TRIES TO RUN EVERYTHING AT A CLOTHING BANK WHERE THERE ARE MANY WORKERS AND NOT JUST HER: I don't know yet what to say to that one.
If you can think of ways you tell people off, add them to this list. I am tired of putting up with people running over me!

I have told people "stop thinking, you aren't very good at it" and " I bet your family tree resembles a telephone pole". YOu can tell, of course, that those are meant for people that I am hoping to never have contact with again.
When I deal with people who are to busy trying to win a non existent argument with me I will try to say something that they may have to look up in the dictionary. I one told a fellow that I was sure his "obvious propensity for misogyny was probably attractive in neolithic circles".
He was going to need a dictionary on that one. The little glow on his face and the "why thank you!" that came with it just made me shake my head.
