DWI drivers and punishment |
| |
| I saw this article on msn.com: http://www.msnbc.msc.com/id/17190887/ It basically says that a Representative in the Arkansas State Senate is proposing that repeat DWI offenders must have a pink license plate on their cars. The first letters on the plate will read "DWI." This is to ensure that other drivers know that the one with the pink license plate is a habitual drunken driver, and I'm sure, to give a little bit of embarrassment to the drunk. Do you think this is a good idea? Personally, I think it's a great idea. It should be implemented in every state, and sex offenders should have something similar on their cars too. | | | | | |

| | Usually I would say that this is a good idea However I have to look at my situation and wonder. My husband and I only have 1 vehicle and it is registered in his name He already has 1 DWI and if he were to get another DWI and they put that license plate on his van Then I would be driving around with our children having people look at ME as though I was the habitual offender And what sort of embarrassment would my children incounter because of this? | | | | | | |

| | Even once is too many. Suppose on his first DWI, he killed a mother and her children. Would you let there be a second time? If a little embarassment will prevent even one death, I say all systems go. | | | |

| | I dont disagree with you there! BUT why should should me and the kids have to suffer that sort of humiliation as a result of his poor judgement? | | | |

| | You could DD for him, keep him out of the bars, any number of things. If you'll be embarrassed, it's for you to do everything you can to prevent it, if you can't trust him to prevent it for you. You gotta do what you gotta do. | | | |

| | I am all for it. It sounds like a great way to make people aware of a potentiol accident waiting to happen. I know if I saw one of those plates. I sure wouldn't try to pass. No matter how slow the person was driving. | | | | | | |

| | I don't know if I'd stay behind the guy or try to pass and put as much distance between me and him as possible. Accidents waiting to happen indeed. | | | |
