Does anyone else hang-out with their Family outside home just for fun? | | | | Today was a great day for me, once a month we guys got out shopping with dad. Yeah I know it doesn't sound cool, but we all hang-out together and today we did that. The shopping part is just an excuse, we mostly don't even window shop properly but we just go out, look around the mall a bit, chat a lot, check out each other's opinions on clothes, music, books and just plain talk. We hang around a good couple of hours and then lunch out and again just talk, catch up with each others lives, get connected with each other and head home, we might have bought something but mostly it is just a fabulous day with some arguments, disagreements and a whole lot of fun. This is something we enjoy and make it a point to do once a month the least no matter how busy our individual schedules are. Does anyone else hang-out with their family (not counting the typical family gatherings or mandatory visits) just to enjoy a fine day, bond together and have fun as a family? | | Family together | | | | | | | | | Family Lawyers Find Custody& Family Lawyers& yellowpages.com

| | I do things with family members but not as much as I would like, it seems everyone has such busy schedual. Last time I did was a few weeks ago one of my grandsons spent the night with me and after church he wanted to go someplace. He didn't know where but just wanted to. So, I called my parents on a whim that they might be home and not busy. Andrew, my cat (my mom gave me), and I went out and spent a lovely afternoon with them, nothing special just visiting. It was great! And Andrew was thrilled to have alone time with Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Great-Grandpa. | | | | | | | gbala9 (1303)

| | That sounds so nice, it must have been a fun day, and these are the days that add up to wonderful memories later in life, Andrew truly will cherish it not just now but always, I remember my time with Grandpa and Grandma as some of the best memories of my childhood. I wish you many more such days to build up wonderful memories and treasuring the feeling of being a family. | | | | | | | Family Lawyers Find Custody & Family Lawyers & yellowpages.com | add comment | | | |

| | We used to have a family picnic fortnightly when I was a kid and even when in my late teens.Nowadays,we don't plan on an outing. It still happens but it's unplanned and when least expected. It isn't about not finding time.Just that we bump into each other ever so often that the thought of 'planning' a fun day seems unlikely.I have to admit that a surprise day out with family sounds exciting. | | | | | | | gbala9 (1303)

| | Actually nothing like spontaneity to really get things on a more fun level, but we guys schedule it for we know if we left it to time we'll never be able to manage it. It is so difficult for everyone to have a free day unless it is scheduled. I live with my family, but the charm of our day-outs is incomparable to any other family time. There is something wonderful about being out together that does alter the whole mood, somehow it is lighter and more fun. We do as a family talk at dinner table and breakfast is a fun meal with everyone trying to beat others at being first to solve Sudoku, but charming as those times are they simply don't give the sense of bonding and connection we have on a day out. It's just a different kind of bonding so we all enjoy it, it helps us stay cued in on each others lives. I hope you too have couple of these day outs every now and then. It is one of the most stress relieving things I can think of :) | | | | | | | Ask a Family Lawyer Now 17 Lawyers Are Online. Ask a Question, Get an Answer ASAP. | | This is impossible for me as I live overseas. However, I do try to get home every two or three years, and we really have a great time. It's all very well getting e-mails etc, but there's nothing like sharing precious real-time with your loved ones. I only wish to could be more frequent. | | | | | | | gbala9 (1303)

| | That must be hard, I can't imagine that kind of distance. I'm glad for all the advances in the field of communication though, it does help stay connected. I'm sure you have the best vacation every time you meet them. | | Since I no longer live with my family, my sisters and I make it a point to meet at least once a month for dinner or for coffee. There are also times when I happen to be in the area where they are working, I meet up with them. We also hangout with our parents every once in a while just to chit-chat, watch a movie or have coffee. | | | | | | | gbala9 (1303)

| | I'm so lucky... my family and I are so very close. My parents see us daily. My sister at least once a week usually. My mom and dad and I often go out together just to enjoy some time. This coming weekend we're going to a winery to get some St. Patty's Day Green Apple wine that's made locally. We often go shopping together too. My sister and I will realize we haven't talked or seen each other for a week or so and go "hey... let's do breakfast after the kids are off to school" and we go out, do breakfast and of course end up shopping at the used stores or something! My kids (all 3 teens) seem to spend a lot more time with friends of late... guess it's the teen years... but we do often go to hockey games and sporting events. We of course shop together a lot and will go "tubing" down the slopes when money and time permit during the winter. So yeah, I'm pretty lucky. All of my family and I are very close. I hope it always remains that way because I know many are not so lucky! | | | | | | | hockeygal4ever (5360)

| | That sounds so good, you know to just hear that people are so close, you don't get to hear it so often in a world that keeps harping about families not being what they used to be. You seem to be close to your family, just like I am. The bonding part is fun, I hope I shall be able to carry forward this habit with my children too when they are in the picture, like you have done. Just reading about your day made me feel good, and I hope you'd always stay close. Lol | | | | | | | About Families We've Got Your Neighborhood About Families. Customer Reviews! | | Yes, but seldom. It is because my mum is very busy for working from afternoon until midnight, you can see that when I wake up, my mum is actually sleeping. I back from office then my mum go to work already. She is allowed to rest for 2 days in one month only, that's why we don't have many good time for gathering. Anyway, I and my family has planned go out for dinner together last Sunday, it was wonderful and great. :-) | | | | | | | gbala9 (1303)

| | Yes, the drawbacks of modern life, if you just let it be responsibilities just take up and run your life. That is why we have the once a month thing scheduled and everyone clears out their schedules for the day and switches off the mobiles, once we are together, nothing to intrude on the family time out. There are times I when something pressing comes up and I consider bailing out but I do a reality check as to what is really important to me, unless any of us has a unscheduled trip out of town we all make it. Helps keep the spirit of family alive. | | | | | | | FUN: Buy, Sell, or Hold? Don't trade FUN until you get our trusted free weekly trading advice! www.TheBestNewsletters.com | add comment | | | |

| | Sounds wonderful.I have my mother-in-law here and that is wonderful to drop by or she by here and we visit and eat together, make a real day of it and we laso talk with her once a day on the phone. She is older now and alone. The rest of my family is in other countries. so we keep comtact by phone or email. It used to be though that we would plan a littel inpromptu fun, just go shop and have a little lunch at a mall. Now it just we two that do that. But THAT is great too.. renewing! | | | | | | | gbala9 (1303)

| | Though it is the case of more the merrier, still just being out with any of them is thrilling, I make it a point to catch at least 1 movie a month with my Brother, he is a sweetheart and the relationship we siblings share is crazy, we have a deal, he's OK with me shopping endlessly for hours provided I feed him. He is a good ol' Jughead if you've ever read 'The Archies'. So for me it is like I have the best buddy for shopping, and he really doesn't get irritated with the hours I take browsing shop to shop as long as he gets treated to a hearty lunch. I love that time, it is a privilege to have such a indulgent Brother and it is fun too for he's younger to me so I bully him a bit with the 'I'm older than you, you have to listen to me card'! | | | | | | | Lineages, Inc. | | I can so relate to the insane part of it. When I'm with my siblings I'm a brat. The relationship my Elder Sis & I share is the only relationship where I don't behave like an adult at all, I'm a smart alec brat and she Has to take care of me. She's always been a parent figure and somehow she is the only person with whom I behave like a brat. I love her to bits and my Brother is another ray of sunshine. When we are together, all the passage of time falls apart and we are kids again. We behave the way we used to when we were 7-8 years old, all sense flies out, we are totally juvenile, my Brother & I are constantly squabbling and complaining about each other, my Sis is like the den mother keeping us in line. It is The Most Insane accusations flying around, constant teasing, preening and bragging about our accomplishments, and just being a brat, eventually my Sis would end up telling us both to shut up!! We are so crazy together that we don't need anything else to keep us entertained, the only thing I have learned during our time together is never have anything to drink when together you are totally liable to splutter it all over when one of us comes with a 'statement'. We laugh so much that our bellies hurt and my Brother actually rolls on the floor and laughs. If I had a choice then I'd choose them only for my family. My nieces or nephews will be the luckiest children in the world for they'd have my Sis for their mom. She is The most amazingly fun person, I'm in awe of her and she is the only person to whose advice I follow even if I disagree. I know she knows best what is right for me. When we kids are together it never is like 3 people, it seems as if we are one for we are so in tune with each other, we can read each other's thought, glances and smiles. Oh dear if I don't stop now I'd never finish. So I'll fold. Thanks for the response dear and wishing you more merry times with your loved ones.
